Nu, et år efter episoden, sidder jeg stadig tilbage i frustration. Jeg har gjort alt, hvad der står i min magt som journalist, men svaret på det essentielle spørgsmål er endnu ikke fundet.

Hvad var motivet? Hvad driver mennesker ud over den moralske grænse? Godt nok er lignende set før andre steder, men der var motiverne klare.

Hvad jeg ved med sikkerhed er, at disse 6 uforklarlige skæbner alligevel var målrettede nok til at udspille deres rolle i tragedien.

Jeg tænker tit tilbage på de intense timer, hvor jeg oplevede det hele på nært hold. Især husker jeg mængden af blå blink og skudsikre veste, kulminationen af de apatiske blikke, tavsheden, frygten og troen og håbet! Danmark trådte med ét ind i en hidtil ukendt periode.

Siden da har jeg gentagne gange forsøgt at sætte mig i deres sted. De var alle børn af Danmark, og det er måske det bedste svar, jeg kan give på mit spørgsmål.
