This version of The Age of Shadow game encompasses the rules for Character Creation, Task Resolution, Combat and Magic, as based on the OpenQuest system. It also details adventure structures and challenges, as well as a sampling of creatures the characters may encounter on their quests.

This free edition of the game does not include much in the way of setting or background material, which is mainly clarified in The Age of Shadow: Campaign Guide.
