The original German Anduin magazine (issues 1 to 29) were photocopied loose pages, started by Thomas (Tommy) Heinig in 1988. The fanzine grew into a publication of the Anduin e.V. gaming club and the FaGaMo gaming club. Issues 30 to 60 were photocopied and stapled magazines. The later issues reached print runs of over 200 copies. The last printed issue was published in April 2000.
From July 2000 to May 2001 publication paused, while Anduin e.V. cooperated with the X-Zine online magazine and printed six issues of the X-Zine Anduin, with about 1000 copies each.
When the X-Zine Anduin went out of print, the Anduin lived on as a free online magazine, continuing its numbering with issue 61. For the first few years, it kept to a monthly schedule. As this became a strain on Tommy, who did most of the work on Anduin, the periodical was close to ceasing publication altogether several times. Finally, Tommy handed over the reins to Niniane, who continued to edit Anduin (roughly two issues per year) until 2015.
Anduin is one of the longest-living German RPG periodicals.
