Those are free snacks. Try it with some sour cream on top.

You can find here some answers

http://science.howstuffworks.com/question206.htm

But very important this stuff is not so harmless as described, see it in

http://ptcl.chem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/SI/silica_gel.html

Really is not a dangerous material if you do not open the bag and spread it.
So IMHO you can keep them into your boxes, they will keep humidity low.
But don't keep them if games are going to be handled by children, it's very likely in this case that bags went opened and the content inhalated or swallowed zombie

It won't hurt anything being in there. Silica Gel is essentially just sand, pretty much completely inert.

The one thing to keep in mind though is that it is only useful while the box is closed. Exposure to normal atmosphere humidity will quickly render it useless.

So if you planning on playing these games, plan on replacing the packets with fresh ones after your sessions. Otherwise you're just storing little bags of sand in the boxes for no reason.

You can also 'reactivate' it by heating it to drive off the absorbed moisture in an oven. And you can repeat the process indefinately with no harm to the gel.

You mean Silica Gel. The only game with Silicon Gel bags is Busen Memo.

Silicone, not silicon. Silicon is used to make computer chips. Silicone is used for expanding the mommybags.

I worked in the Silicon Valley and during a company meeting a director came in to visit and he always "Silicone Valley" during his speech. One of the (particularly well endowed) secretaries from my office was going demonstrate the difference between silicon and silicone. wow

freind of a freind had soem jerky bought for him in america so he could try it and it came with a bag of the stuff (these are the little spherical crystally things) in it to keep the stuff dry

he was given it as a present in at a stoner party. assuming it was some sortov flavour satchet he upends the stuff into the jerky (while everyone else was too fargone to notice) and gives the bag a good shake to mix it, preceeds to eat the entire packet

upon wakeing up the next day all at party wonder why he is so thirsty

true story!
