Ok, after numerous death threats (j/k)... I mean numerous hate mails (j/k)... I mean numerous criticisms (not kidding). I've decided to switch back to a single column mode.

Please post any weirdness you have. You can still customize the page module order with the link [Custom Layout] in the upper right corner of the page.

I will be working on the following:
- Non javascript way to save your collection
- Ability to set a default forum view

The single column layout works pretty well. Good jorb Aldstorf! Just one suggestion: what about a 'browse images' link under the big image? The only way to browse images seems to be the image section, and I put that near the bottom of the page.

I posted this in the middle of the switchover on the other thread, so I will repeat it here, just in case. Sorry for the duplication.

In Information, it sometimes cuts off the number of publishers or alternate names and replaces with "more...." This is fine (though it would be nice to be able to turn it off), but sometimes, selecting more only adds one additional name, which means that it would have taken up the same amount of room to have the extra name and leave off the "more....". Alternate titles on "Ticket to Ride" (ID:9209) and publishers on "Bazaar" (ID:287) are two examples. It should be set so that if you have five or more publishers/names, show the first three and a "more...", otherwise show all.

Now I see the single column, I've got to say that it's better. You could move the ad that is under the prime photo to the right of the Informnation section. There are still lots of blue bars eevrywhere. Puhlease think about letting the user tone them down.

Other than that, you are STILL doing a great job. kiss kiss

Can you please change the word Votes to Ratings where the stars are? Still don't like the stars, it's very kindergarten.

I kinda liked the two column look

Is there anyway you could give us a way to choose one or two column?

One thing I'd like to see is in the "Files" section, is the date of the upload. Would be most useful.

I hate to say it after so much work, but I was really getting used to the two column look. It seemed to fit information on the page better than the 'new' one column look.

Either way I really like the customizability of the game page, too bad each user can't just pick 1 or 2 column in the customization page.

Thanks Aldie,
I prefer this type of layout much better - plus I see that the last updated column is back on the Forums tab.

One problem - when I went to customize the page, I got this error after submitting:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_WHILE in /var/www/public_html/BGG_Game.php on line 244

**EDIT** - I went back and tried all the changes I want (two geeklist entries - active + hot, images closed, forums on active, marketplace closed) one at a time, and it worked. One time hiccup or may choking on too many changes at once?

I think the stars should be scaled differently. It matches to the 10 point scale, but no game with a non-trivial number of rating will ever get ten stars, nor will any get two or less. So what's the point of displaying so many stars, when all it does is duplicate the rating shown right next to it?

If you wanted to do the traditional star system, something like this would fit better, I think:

5 star -- 8+ rating
4 star -- 7 1/3
3 star -- 6 2/3
2 star -- 6
1 star -- 5 1/3

Partial stars as appropriate.

And as others have said, meeples would be more appropriate than stars.

Thanks!

I notice the Description is limited to just 4 lines? then there is a More>> tab. Do you know that most descriptions are that short? I've written some long ones I know. Does there have to be a limit to make the page work? If so, can you make the limit a bit longer please?

Thanks!

I mentioned this problem in the other thread, and will repeat it here since it is still a problem in this new design.

When you go to the images section and click on the "browse" button it only lets you browse the "hot images" and not the image gallery, the only way at the moment to get to the image gallery is to click on a hot image and them select the image gallery from there.

And I like the single column far better than the double column

Aldie-

Any way to make the size of each module customizable.

Things like, make the whole game description always visible instead of a set size. See more than 9 pics at a time, or more than 10 files or forum messages.

Also it'd be nice to be able to see image captions from the front page. Either below or next to the actual images, or as a mouse-over instead of the redundant game name.

Also, I'm sure it's on your to-do list, but the game pages won't load on the admin side, so I can't handle most of the correction reports.
