Something to note about the stats, is that many people had an ambiguous title like "[BGG-L01] or casual", but I has no way to know if they played an actual league game or not in the end.

In the future I think it would make sense to confirm it as a league match with a pop-up of some sort on game end.

Thanks to Shobalk for setting this up, and to Db0 for the excellent stat collection. It was a great league to play in!

Unfortunately, for the first half of my time in the league or so, I thought the naming convention for games was [BGG L01], rather than with a dash - oops!

Are there any plans for more competitive OCTGN play in the future? This league seems to have been a huge success!

Yup. I'll be starting another ladder soon! Perhaps 4 quarterly ladders that make up a season.

Any other thoughts on a seasonal structure?

I'll see if I can extract something to catch such mistakes as well. Grrrr...

Here's a spreasheet with a wider filter for league matches. It may have caught a few non-league games as well, so someone will have to take a quick look and remove those.

Are your minions still calculating this, or is it supposed to be me who's doing it? I assume I got unofficially fired as league statistician after going AWOL in May

I think JopeJope and or Hollis is working on it. I'll poke them some after the invitational is over. If you're willing to run the calculations, go for it!

Hi, I spent a bit of time this morning playing around with the statistics. I used the wider filter provided by dB0 above, removing 40 games which were ambiguous as to whether they were league or casual games. I think it can make a difference to play style and ultimately outcome if it is a league match. That left a total of 2723 games.

Here's what I came up with:

Victory conditions:

Overview of the Corp by ID:

Overview of the Runner by ID:

Here's a breakdown of the different IDs against each other:

... and that same data expressed as percentages:

Here are some fun stats about the runners who got flatlined:

... and the Corps who did the flatlining:

Hope some of you find the above interesting. The raw data also includes duration in minutes, duration in turns, influence points and agenda points for each side, so if anyone is interested in further permutations let me know. If anyone wants the spreadsheets please let me know a good place to host them (workbook contains about 25 worksheets, 2MB).

Yeah... I kind of forgot about this. My bad :| I've done some preliminary poking around. I'll do a more thorough look at the standings tomorrow or Monday.

Incredible. Quick thoughts on stats;

33% chance of a loss being as a result of flatline is independent of the Runner ID/faction.

All Corp factions have an ID that is capable of 50% chance of winning.

Shaper is well behind the other factions. This is not only based on percentages, but further supported by the dramatic difference in total plays. (Shaper has less than 600 plays over both IDs).

Yeah Shaper has been out of fashion the last few months but I've seen a resurgence recently of decks built around Indexing. Maybe people will finally get tired of the same old bag of Criminal tricks and come back to Shaper just for some variety.

Another stat I've been tracking lately is "Loser's Agenda Points", how many agenda points the loser scores.

High for Criminal and HB losses, low for their wins; opposite with Noise.

Shaper isn't a pick-up-and-play. It fosters some pretty bad habits until you get familiar with and learn to avoid them (playing Replicator, Test Run for Magnum Opus, over-reliance on Workshop and R&D Interface, lack of HQ pressure, getting baited every turn by Corp installs).

Courtesy of Hollis! This data is missing a subset of league games due to incorrect tags. As a result, the representative of a given faction will be determined by the highest Challenge Board ELO rating in the top 3 for that faction.

Without further delay!

League end event

There will be a Corporate Team and a Runner team comprised of the best players from within each faction. Additionally, there will be 1 floating runner represented by the highest ranked ELO player not already among the field. This player may chose their faction before matchups are decided. Matchups will be chosen one at a time starting with the corp team, followed by the runners, and finally again by the corp.

The matches will have the following format:

- Best of 3 games wins the match. No prestige.
- You must keep your faction, but may change your deck between games!
- No time limit.

If there is a tie after all 4 matches have been played, each team will elect a representative that will compete in one final match to decide the winner.

Representatives for the showcase showdown are:

Team Corporation

Jinteki
Oshill

NBN
Recallme (unicoerner in league)*, Nintendom on standyby if Recallme decides to play Criminal

Weyland
Mtgred

Haas-Bioroid
Hobb33

----------------------------

Team Runner

Shaper
Kiv

Criminal
Recallme (unicoerner in league)*, Jopejope on standby if Recallme decides to play NBN

Anarch
Canales

Highest Non-Participating ELO
Running_Bear

Substitutions may (and probably will) be made pending acceptance into the tournament! I will be contacting the participants shortly.

Entropy over the probability of playing against specific opponents. Calculated:

Sum i=1 to n: -p(opponent_i) * log(p(opponent_i))

I was using it to find playgroup clusters. It can be ignored here.

OCTGN League [Alpha]: It's a wrap
This was a great idea, thanks for all of the stats and running an awesome league. I had a blast and I hope we do it again soon. Too bad there isn't a prize for participation, I think I had everyone crushed there. LOL. Is anyone going to be at the GenCon tourney?
