Beijing China: a city of over 20 million. A single city with a larger population that the entire continent of Australia. Home to some of the most fascinating attractions in china - The Forbidden City, The Summer Palace, Tian An Men Square - and the nearest city to one of the most amazing wonders of the world - The Great Wall. This city draws tourists from all over the planet with it's wondrous attractions and now you are among them.

You're just a ragged bunch of travelers: teachers, brave enough to live in china for a time; tourists, excited to see what's left of the ancient east - and how it mixes with the modern east; and "locals", not necessarily Bei Jing Ren, but Zhong Guo Ren, finally in the big city and ready to make your fortune in any way possible.

Like any major city, dangers lurk down dark alleyways and you must be on your toes. For each of you participating in a grand adventure there is another willing to profit at your expense. Locals beware! The foreigners know what they want and they will take any sideways glance to be indication that you want to rob them! Travelers beware! Some of these locals are really conmen who want to rob you!

Each day the group will identify a threat and have them arrested. If you are innocent, you'll probably be set free eventually, but your vacation certainly ends with a trip to the local jail. If you're guilty, we may never see you again.

Each night the conmen will choose someone to rob. Likewise that person's vacation will come to an end in an endless process of trying to explain what happened to chinese officials and making staticy calls to friends back home asking for a money transfer.

To each of you I say good luck. Good luck enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of one of the most fascinating cities in the world. Good luck holding onto your money, or parting it from those rich westerners.

Team Evil: The Conmen

Tina the Great Wall Guide

Her English is perfect! She’s smooth as silk! And speaking of silk, would you like to stop at a traditional silk factory on the way to your destination? Her eyes are the color of jade. And speaking of Jade, would you like to stop at a traditional jade factory on the way to the wall? Her earrings look a little bit like cheap souvenirs though…and speaking of souvenirs, would you like to stop for some shopping on your way to the wall? Oh…and there is the wall, but we’re all out of time. That will be $500.

It's a good racket. She just needs some more employees.

Starting Lone Wolf - Always looking for new employess. Each night chooses 1 person to con and 1 person to view. Any evil she views is added to wolf chat. If she views a "student" they promote. Does not receive a N0 view.


"Students"

These students love laowai. All they want to do is chat with you and practice their English. They’d love to show you around the city. Here are some famous hutongs. That’s Tian An Men Square. The best view of the forbidden palace is right around this corner but…I’m so tired…and thirsty…let’s stop in a tea house. I know somewhere. They’ll never tell you the bill will be 2400 RMB. They can pay their share. Of course they’ll go back for a refund from the owner later.

Cubs - Promote together if Tina is killed. Promote individually if Tina views them. Considered "minor con" when unpromoted. Considered "major con" when promoted. Starts the game knowing Tina. Tina doesn't know them. They do not know each other.


Tuk Tuk Driver and Accomplice

What could be more romantic than a ride with your sweetie in one of these traditional looking Chinese vehicles? They could take you leisurely down the streets of Beijing, you could snuggle, and you could laugh at all the suckers walking around on their feet like fools. It would be the smoggy equivalent of a ride down a Venice canal in a gondola. Assuming there were tiny side canals the gondolas were likely to take you down where you met an armed friend of the gondolier's and got to participate in a traditional Italian mugging.

Special Evil Mason Lover-Hunting Seer & Witch

TTD and accomplice share a chat. This chat is lost if either is recruited by Tina.

Each night, TTD chooses someone to view as sweetie/not sweetie. Once TTD knows all living sweeties, the sweeties are eliminated.

Accomplice selects someone each night to club. That person’s night action is negated. Cannot club the same person two nights consecutively. Can cancel the kill by clubbing a lone wolf.
Loses clubbing ability in the following ways:
1) sweeties are eliminated.
2) is recruited by Tina (added to her chat).
3) TTD is recruited by Tina (added to her chat).


Team Good: The Travelers

Local Laowai

(yeah I'm the seer, get over it)
Doesn’t concern himself with small cons. Wealthy tourists get swindled. Locals know better, but damnit, they like to see the great wall too.

Seer – views each night for “major cons.” Gets a positive hit on Tina and on the Promoted Cubs. Receives a n0 negative.


Knowledgeable Laowai

She’s done a bit of research before coming. She’s wary of the small cons.

Aux Ser - Views each night for “minor conman” and gets a hit on unpromoted “students,” tuk tuk driver, and accomplice. Receives a n0 Negative.


Angry Laowai

This whitey has been conned. He’s mad as hell and the next person who tries to rip him off is going to get it!

Parity Hunter – Brutal when Night Killed


Sweeties

They are young. They are adventurous. They want to see the world maaaaan! And China is where it’s at right now. They are full of exuberance and just ooze naiveté.

Lovers (of a sort) - Share a chat. Beyond that they have no special powers. If the tuk tuk driver finds them both, they die. If he finds one of them that one dies as soon as he is the only remaining lover.


5 Laowai

Just another westerner in China.

Villagers – two of these villagers will be “well-researched laowai” but they will be unaware of this fact.
“well-researched laowai” know a little bit about a lot and as long as either of them are alive there will be full role reveal on death. If neither is alive, there will be no role reveal on death.

2 cubs - promote together on death of the lone wolf or independently when viewed

Random Rules:
Ties decided by LHLV.
Game starts when full.
Game does not run over the weekend.
Do not post the contents of your mod chat to the thread.
Coding of claims is not permitted.
Simple conditional orders are allowed.
If you want to ask the mods a question in the thread post it in red or ask in your modchat.
You may not make out of game promises to other players in order to try and influence their actions.
Absolutely no zombie posts allowed. (No fucking kidding. I'll modkill you - or a teammate. Don't make me do it.)
Players who do not make a post from game start to first lynch will be replaced.
Players absent from any DAWN until DUSK will also be replaced.
No quitting. When you signup, you commit to play. Do so.
"Replace" is only to be used in the case of a real life circumstance affecting your ability to be here.
You may Nightfall, but results will only be processed early if a mod is present and willing.
Night orders will never be processed early.

Dawn and Dusk:
Lynch: 10:00am (votes timestamped 10:01 or later will not be counted).
Night Orders Due: 11:00am (Orders timestamped 11:01 or later will not be counted).
Posting at night is allowed.
Please do not post in the time between Dusk and the results.
Also do not post in the time between Dawn and the results.

Victory Conditions:
Good: All good aligned players will win when all the Wolves are killed.
Evil: All evil aligned players will win when parity is reached. The Wolves and promoted Cub count towards parity.

It's bright and shining day in Beijing, the modern ancient city. This appears to be a normal day, but little do you know that for you -- for 15 of you among the mass of 20 million -- today is the beginning of something different. Though you come from differnt places and for differnt things, you are now all together in the city of roasted ducks and random cons, temples and tea houses, malls and McDonalds, street food and streetwalkers - a city that is beyond description and beyond compare. You came here to work, to live, to play, to tour, to break outside of your bubbles, or to create new ones around the unsuspecting. You came for a week, for a year, for a lifetime. But you came.

Welcome to Beijing.

The Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally System

Your Moderator has enabled the Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally system
for this game. In order for it to function correctly, your votes will
need to be formatted correctly. The following rules will explain what
you will need to do:

Players
1. All votes must be bolded

2. The entire vote statement must be bolded and enclosed in brackets:
[vote jmilum]

3. If your game allows, and you [vote nightfall] your vote will
be locked. Your moderator may have disabled nightfall votes.

4. Vote tallies will be automatically posted to the game thread
regularly if the tally has changed. The Tally and Vote Logs (for each
game day) are also available on the Cassandra game page.

5. If your vote is not counted be sure to check the Vote Log page and
see if it was marked invalid and why.

6. Case does not matter and simple typos will not cause the vote to fail.

7. You may [vote no lynch] if your game allows it.

8. Non voting players will be listed in the tallies. This will only be
correct if the Moderator notes which players have been killed (see below)

9. Editing a vote post will invalidate the vote and it will not be counted.


Moderators
1. The moderator will need to post [Dawn] when the day begins
(after the night results are posted) and [Dusk] when the lynch
deadline has passed and the day is over. Votes will not be counted
after [Dusk] has been posted. They will be registered again
after [Dawn] is next posted.

2. You may include a day number in the dawn and dusk post for
informational purposes, but it will not be used by the system.
Cassandra will increment an internal counter each time it sees
[Dawn] no matter what day is shown in a dawn post (i.e.
[Dawn 3] the three is allowed but ignored)

3. After dusk has been posted, the Moderator may go to the game page
on Cassandra to request a Final Tally to be posted before the normal
scan period has elapsed (i.e. Game Y gets scanned at 45 min. after the
hour, if it lynches at 7pm the moderator may request a tally to be
posted from the game page before 7:45pm. it will also be posted
regardless of whether or not it has been changed since the last
posting) - Do this by clicking on the 'Force Vote Tally' link.

4. You will need to note which players were killed via the lynch or at night by
either posting [killed jmilum] in the thread, or by going to the game
page and editing the player list. When posting in the thread, be sure to post
[dusk] before posting the lynch kill, and post [dawn] before
posting the night kill.
Example:
A. lynch time has passed so post [dusk]
B. goto the game page and select a final tally to be posted
C. check the final tally and post [killed melsana]
D. after the night deadline has passed post [dawn]
E. post the night kill with [killed kima]
