Hi,

We are playing this nice game in our club in Ghent (Bylandt) and are having a great time.

I have a question about setup of the Romans inside the city (assault phase 2 or later).

Can they really set up close to elevated judean controlled hexes? The setup-chart states: "Romans outside the city set up no closer then 5 hexes ..... Romans inside the city may not set up adjacent to a judean unit"

Also it states 'unit' so since the Romans set up first doest this mean they can set up adjacent to non-occupied hexes?

Thanx for the help,

Joost

Hi Joost -

Hmmm ... it does say that, doesn't it. We have always played that the Roman cannot set up adjacent to a Judaean controlled Elevated hex within the City since it could be potentially occupied. This puts them at least 2 hexes away from the Wall.

I suppose the Rule could be played as written, but the potential loss of units due to the double Judaean missile fire and terrible rally drm's might preclude that. Or, if the Roman sets up adjacent to a Wall and the Judaean places a unit there, the Roman has to move his somewhere else. With all the Militia the Judaean gets, I would make sure every Roman unit adjacent to the Wall was pushed away ... if for no other reason than to show that impertinent Roman who was boss ! angry

On a similar note, Judaean setup is limited to Elevated hexes and controlled City hexes. We do not allow setup in Breach hexes, since they are neither. But upon further review, we have probably been wrong about this. The setup Rule for the Judaean says any "city hex", not any "Controlled city hex".

Hope this helps ! modest

Have fun !

~ A
