I read the review of the accomplished Tom Vasel, and it's an excellent explanation of the game. I'll give you some of my thoughts of it.

My wife and I have a son (9) and daughter (5). I wanted to introduce them to games different than Monopoly - something they can both understand, gets them thinking, is fun, and is a quick game.

Sleeping Queens meets all those requirements. In one game, my daughter - who is just getting the hang of reading and adding - wanted to play by herself - instead of playing on a team with someone. That was the first time she had wanted to that with a game this complex (to her).

The game has a fun theme and simple rules, but has enough strategy to counter the luck-of-the-draw that usually accompanies a card game.
