My new strategy failed. Playing Railroad Tycoon last night with Brad,
Rich and Amy, I decided to forgo the shipping foolishness and focus on
the collection of bounties and completion of Major Lines. To this end
I completed:

Baltimore - Toledo
New York - Chicago
New York - Kansas City (with Western Link)
First shipment to Mobile
First player to ship a goods cube

In all, over 40 points came from cards, which angered the Age of Steam
Gods. But AoS this is not and by the time I collected my 20 points
for KC/West Link, I was within 2 points of the shipping King Brad.

For the 2nd game in a row, Brad dominated the East coast as Rich
controlled the Mid West, Amy the South and I was completely unfocused
(chasing bounties). My train sat at a 3 while the others had 6's (yikes).

The game felt like it was near the end with Brad and I fighting it out
for 1st, Rich a distant 3rd and Amy 4th. Then Rich upgraded to a 7
train and began to close the gap. Still in 3rd, he was nearing the
end of his goods supply.

The Western Link placed 4 red goods in KC. Every good shipped to
Chicago from this point results in 2 random good placed in Chicago.
Rich and I were both linked there and our need was almost desperate as
it was obvious the end game still afforded Brad some 4-7pt shipping
options.

I began to move goods to Chicago hoping to subsequently move the new
good placed there.

Can you say "purple?" Having no value to me, it's the one color Rich
needed and it's the color I drew time and time again. So the game
went, I draw - Rich ships, I draw - Rich ships. Needless to say he
closed the gap and passed me.

In the end it was not enough as mastermind Brad had the Charleston to
New York connection all to himself. Amy, who owned the South was
focused on getting cards like the Land Grant early and that gift
wrapped the connection for Brad. Amy, to her credit built West and
had a strong showing (very good for a 1st timer!).

Final scores

Brad 110
Rich 105(ish)
Kurt 101
Amy cleaned up too fast - didn't see

This was the highest scoring game I've ever seen with 3 of us making
back to the starting side of the scoring track!
