I had several beers (four or five) yesterday and then proceeded to accidentally leave my backpack in a restaurant. They found it and then before I could get in to pick it up it disappeared. Contained in it was my checkbook among other things, so now I'm going through the process of filing a police report, opening a new account, getting new cards and checks, etc. I'm not exactly sure what else was in it (I know there were a bunch of small items in the front pocket) so I'm hoping there wasn't anything very valuable or important.

Don't drink, kids! Also, thieves suck.

He uses every form of commerce. Cash, checks, cashier's checks, credit cards, debit cards, wire transfers, hand-written IOUs; also in the backpack were a chicken and a string of glass beads for barter. I recommend shaking his left hand, because he uses his right hand for, uhh, "favors."

Exactly. Well, it was a restaurant.

The cops are really acting like they want to help me out which is cool although I'm not sure there's much they can do.

Remember, don't answer questions the police may ask you... about anything. Guy here in Boise left his cell phone in a bathroom at a local business, someone found it, decided the nude pics were underage girls, called the cops, guy got arrested, went to jail, spent thousands on attorneys, smeared his reputation and name, was found to only have standard issue nude pics of over 18 models and was kicked out the back door of the courthouse after losing his job, his girlfriend, having his family shun him and ended up in North Dakota working as a minimum wage security guard in a remote Indian casino serving the fraking sector of our economy.

Be careful out there Jarred.

Yeah, but, how was any of that a consequence of talking to the police? Seems like once they had the phone, he was done.

There are no coincidences. Everything is related... Jarred leaving his backpack in a restaurant last night is partly to blame for MGK showing back up here and ranting about what an asshole he thinks Orson Scott Card is and it's also linked, in a really creepy fashion, to that old pic of you and your barely concealed privates.

Yeah, I can only dream about hot chicks sending me nude pics of themselves. I was born too late man, that's for sure.

Slow down, I want to make sure I get this. So, pockets for checkbooks and credit cards? Leave things at home I won't be needing? So far I think I'm following. Do you also try to avoid walking out of places while leaving your property behind for someone to steal?

no, I just try to ensure that anything important is on me, rather then in something I take off. It's not really that hard with small objects. Of course large objects are different, it's why I often do not take (for example) bags off or wrap them around my hands or feet. I realize that sometimes (such as in a restaurant) that is not possible, but then I don't take anything to a restaurant, except what I need to use there.

Given that in Texas (a hot bed of libtards) they can use a refusal to speak to the police against you I can see where he is coming from (and not going to Texas).

Sadly, college not only hasn't made you any brighter, there is very little to look forward to in your future either. Check it out, dimwit, the cops aren't going to find and return Jarred's stuff. Not now, not in the near future, not even in an alternate universe such as the one you inhabit.

But hey, carry on anyway - there's always room for one more college grad with a huge loan to pay and no jobs except at Indian casinos in North Dakota.

I heard somewhere that you can transfer money directly to other people without a check. But I use the electronic banking options and they write a check to my landlord and send it to him. I wonder if he doesn't need to do something on his end in order to make the whole process automated and online... I certainly wouldn't mind.

How can the cops arrest him without knowledge that the girls are, in fact, underage? Doesn't make sense.
