The epic saga continues I had spent 2 weeks planning Frances invasion of Russia on the basis that 2 gaps between depots were enough only for a clarification of the rules to be discovered and 1 gap was all that was allowed.
The French army retired to France.
Some serious negotiation had ocurred between England(James was most annoyed that I hadnt assigned him a superlative so far after a quick group discussion we settled for the verdict of our spiritual leader Alan ARGUMENTATIVE and LOUD) and Spain The deal being Spain cuts all ties with France gets real nasty on Turkey and England wont sink the Spanish Navy. This was countered by French insistince that a war on her Turkish ally was a war on France.
Indecision dogged young Attila for some time this game.
For most of the game peace reigned England and Turkey remained at war without any attempt to prosecute it by either side until the end.
The Russian Spanish war followed a similar pattern.
Prussia formed Poland and later swapped Saxony for East Galicia whilst prophesying doom and gloom to all who would listen.(Lee can be a tad bit pessimistic)
Russia placed cossacks in Turkey and Prussia as a security measure after all it would give 1 months notice of his or their intention of war.(this gets important later)
Austria spent most of his time inciting the Spanish to war on the Turk (so he could invade Naples while the Spanish were involved elsewhere) then gave up and allied to the Spanish with a more devious plan in mind.
Britain pottered about being loud and argumentative where he felt it would annoy people the most.
france retreated back to France and had the odd strop or made the odd threat.
spain dithered. Turkey tried not to be the focus of anyones attention (and failed)
Then in December 1806 all hell broke loose
Britain resumed her war with Turkey landing in syria and Palestine the Turkish army began to sort itself out for a retaliation by grouping in Eygpt when Austria declared war and invaded Cyrencia.Russia in the general spirit of goodwill withdrew its "security" cossack from Turkey
France who was already on the stroppy side exploded and nearly earned Turkey another enemy But Russia gave assurances of his non involvement. The Turkish troops attacked jerusalem but were beaten back by the British losing the imperial Cavalry.
the following turn both Spain and Prussia sensing an easy kill declared on Turkey. France was called to allies against Spain and Russian troops were offered as security against the Spanish (the russian Spanish war still being active). Turkey and England agreed an informal peace England being horrified at the whirlwind of destruction he had unwittingly unleashed against Turkey.
The Spanish landed in greece and Prussia formed her Army up
Turkey began to consolidate just to the North of the Spanish
France crossed the Spanish border with a punitive force under Ney and sent another Force of Minor Nation Corps to southern Italy La Grande Armee formed up in central germany.
The heroic Spanish army withdrew from Turkey to Spain as the French tried and failed to beseige Naples and Madrid.
The prussians stood paralysed at the sight of Napoleons Army in front of them.
with the lines of battle are firmly drawn we decided to call it a day.
