Hi, I'm Tomás H.M. Díaz B. (Rayo Azul), a chilean amateur boardgames designer (you can see all of my works in tomassinionthewind.wordpress.com

The first is to say sorry about mi english, because it's not my primary language.

This thread is by the postulation of THE CENTURION'S JOURNEY for the 2013 Solitaire Print and Play Contest (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1002891/2013-solitaire-p...)

The Centurion's Journey is a solitaire PnP game based in the homonymous novel by Ernest Psichari, a french army officer and writer of the early XX century that died during the Charleroi's retreat in the Belgium Ardenes (WW I).

In the game, player must to drive the steps of "Maxencio" (the novel's hero), trouhg the desertic ultramar province of Mauritania in the West French Sahara, commanding an exploring caravan.

Acording the novel, water and milities will be extremely significant as game resources... Maxencio's faith development will be another very important factor too.

The game design is ready, but it is in spanish. During the next days I will try to translate it, with the help of some pals from the "spanish boardgames blogosphere" (Santi Eximeno, Pedrote and Gonzo Bríos, acording they twitter coments, hehehe). Anyway, you can visit the spanish review publicated in the Lev Mishkin's blog "El Telegrama Zimmermann", about WWI & early XX century boardgames, following these links:

- Literary background: http://www.telegrama-zimmermann.com/colonialismo-en-africa-e...
- Designer's Notes: http://www.telegrama-zimmermann.com/el-viaje-del-centurion-n...

As I have only a smattering of Spanish so I can only go on the layout for the moment. The game looks well laid out, with clean line maps and easy on the eye.

I'm looking forward to seeing the English language edition when ready.

If possible, try to get a native English speaker to proofread the translation. If one of your translators is already that, then you are ahead of the game (so to speak).

Thanks about all your support and good comments.

About all the other translations than english... errr... my "polyglothic" skills are limited, sorry.

In this right moment a friend is translating the rules and other friends and me are translating the 44 cards game deck. Possibly the next week the entire game can be ready, but I can't promises nothing yet.

Looks great! My one question is what do the red dice do/why are they significant? I really did look, but perhaps I did a "man-look" as we say in our house!

Red dice represents the evil, weakness, sin, brutality or any other no-christianic influence in Maxencio's thinking or commanding... the real possibility of resolve situations trough no-really-good ways.

Player must decide if use red dice results joint white ones for get good dice combinations or not, considering that the red dice use cause the secundary effect of fall down one position over Maxencio's Faith track each time.

This game mechanic is inspirated about "Split Decision" system, by Daniel Solis (http://danielsolisblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/split-decision.h...)
