We are putting many of our belongings in a crate and shipping it overseas. I have fifteen minutes to choose approximately five games to bring with me. Games are not generally available, or the shipping is horrific. I have been putting off this decision for about three months.

Do I choose family games, knowing they might not want to play them? Or those heavy, involved games that I've been meaning to get to.

That is all.

Depends on:
1) How long you're going to be gone
2) How old your kids are / what they're willing to play
3) What your prospects for a a gaming group are.

When I lived overseas, I brought a bunch of games (way more than five, but I only brought the components, no boxes), and I only played a small fraction of what I brought.

It might be a time to lay low on gaming and do other stuff.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you might want to avoid those heavy games that involve tough choices.

Whenever I'm away from home, I tend to avoid stuff that makes me think, "I might as well be doing/eating this at home!"

That said, I'd take games whose theme is related to the place I'm visiting and/or small time wasters for evenings...nothing too heavy.
