Poll: Need the communities advice for packaging
Hello all. First I would like to thank anyone who participates. I am in the middle of producing a small dice game and would like to know what type of packaging the community prefers. There are tons of types of potential packaging options but I have narrowed it down to 4-5 that I personally preferred. Thanks again!
What size package would you prefer for a dice game with 10-15 12-16mm dice?
3"x3" or 4"x4" Box
Citadels Sized Box
Dice Bag Inside a Clear Plastic Container (Like Love Letter)
Cardboard Cylinder (Like Martian/Zombie Dice)

So long as it fits in a large pocket, it sounds good to me.

The smallest box (i.e. good old fashioned rectangular prism) by volume that will hold the game, such that the length is < 2x the width.

goldencamel Make the box as small as possible.
goldencamel Make it stackable - no exotic designs
goldencamel If it includes cards, consider that some people want to sleeve them (and they still should fit into the box)

Cardboard cylinders stink. There's a reason SJG is now selling a new container for Zombie Dice.

As small as possible with a squared or recatangular base area.

See the best part of playing/collecting a bunch of games AND attempting to publish your own is having an idea on what you would like in an insert and game box. Inserts that do not fit sleeved cards bugs me as much as everyone here. This game will not feature any cards but I definitely plan to make games with cards in the future and plan on making space for sleeved cards. As for the Kosmos cube...I personally do not like cubes myself. Quarriors was hell to put in my gaming closet in a neat and orderly fassion. I was super glad when the expansion box came out and it fit close to the other games I own on the shelf. I was not fond of the cylinder idea but considered I was maybe missing the "good" with them since a few games came in them, a couple of which I own and do not have too much problem storing.

As a side note sorry for not posting in the subject exactly what this was pertaining to.

Thanks for everyone's help so far!

I think a citadels box fits in a USPS 'small' priority box, which last I checked was reasonably cheap to ship overseas. That's the only reason I picked it.

The cidadels size and the smaller square size would/should both fit into the usps small shipping box which was more or less what in the end I was hoping everyone preferred.

I think it's close enough to even.

Now, if you went with a sack/tube...

See I was thinking that also but was afraid it was a "generic" enough topic that it would have gotten moved here so I just posted it here. I shortly after posting this saw that there is another thread asking this exact same question where it seems that the cylider idea is running away with it oddly enough. *shrugs*

Yep, take all of these things with a huge grain of salt. Without more detailed information about the participants, you're unlikely to get much useful information out of these. You also have to factor in that what people say they want isn't always what they then go on to buy.

Welll, I suppose in this case it is easy. Most gamers with a big collection will go for small box which is easy to stack. Most gamers who own ony a small collection will like an unusual packing.
