I started tracking my games played in December of 2004 and I noticed this morning that I have played 199 games since that fateful wintery day...

Now it is time to play my 200th game.

Should I celebrate in grand style and play a long, large scale game like Twilight Imperium III, Arkham Horror, or Railroad Tycoon?

Or should I eschew those vast sweeping epics and go for something even more elegant like Caylus, Puerto Rico or Euphrat and Tigris?

Or should I favor something more intimate. Something smaller, and just for 2, like Jambo, Roma, or Dungeon Twister.

Or perhaps I should be adventurous and try something new. Some friends are gathering for a game of Acquire tomorrow morning. Amazingly, or not, I've never played it.

Yes, this is all very silly, and the milestone is arbitrary since I've certainly played more then 200 games in my life.

This is a special occassion. Get the gaming table set up with some candles for a nice ambiance. Have some Mozart playing in the background. Pour a nice glass of merlot or pinot.... Then ask your wife what she wants to play.

Jason,

Those are words to live by.

Actually, I'm pretty happy that my wife and I both enjoy boardgames and it isn't just "my silly hobby" to her.

That sounds like a nice idea, but it may not qualify as a board game. shake

OK. You got me interested. I checked to see what my 200th game played was (since starting logging on BGG in July 2003). Turns out to have been Sid Sackson's BuyWord during the weekend before our second child was born. So, if you play that one, there will be two of us with the same "200 milestone."

Interestingly for me it was Loopin' Louis.

I will have to watch out for 300 and make it a little more spectacular.

I also started tracking in Dec 04. My 100th game was Battleball. My 200th was an Unpublished Prototype. It'll be a few more months before my 300th, but that just means more time to plan something special! Thanks for the topic... ^_^

There are huge gaps in my games logged. I am sporadic to say the least. But my 200th game logged was Snorta!, and it should be yours too.

Like SkyKnight, I have huge gaps in my game log. But here are my 100s so far -

100 - Battle of the Bands (uh, don't bother)
200 - Octiles (eh, not bad)
300 - Traders of Genoa (a worthy century game!)
400 - Das Zepter von Zavador (also worthy)
500 - Jambo (as this is one of my most played AND one of the few games ny DH will play with me, a fine choice for the half-millenium mark)

Looking forward to game 1000!!

Denise,

We own Battle of the Bands, but haven't played it yet. Perhaps it is just as well considering your reaction.

Jambo is one of our favorite 2-player games and would have been perfect for the 200th milestone. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to play a game on Friday night.

So here it is:

200 - Acquire by Sid Sackson

And if I'm not mistaken, this was my first Sid Sackson game as well.

(CORRECTION: This was my 2nd Sackson game, I played Samarkand in January)

We followed Acquire with:

201 - Railroad Tycoon
202 - Age of Mythology

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

(Sorry, Bobby, Clout still hasn't hit the table yet.)
