I've been on the fence over whether to not to unfriend a vague facebook friend. I'd feel it rude. Then she posted this:

"@ shoprite & then back to work! Happy Monday!"

That made my decision easy.

Would it have been better if she ended it with "@s-mart. Shop smart, shoooop S-mart"?

Fuck a block, I don't want it showing up that I'm a friend of those people, it might speak to the company I keep.

When green is all there is to be, it could make you wonder why. But why wonder? I'm green, and it'll do fine: it's beautiful, and I think it's what I want to be.

I'm actually on the fence on whether or not to remove about half of my Facebook friends. I'm trying to get a new security clearance at work and in order to do that I need to update my list of foreign contacts. Apparently the US government considers Facebook friends "close friends" and so now I'm in the process of documenting the 200 or so foreign-national Facebook friends that I have... ugh.

Interesting. I have 390 Facebook friends, and I personally know all of them except for 18.

All 18 are people from Chit Chat..

Hey! I actually saw you walking across the room at BGG.con 2007. Does that count?

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

Several months ago I read a study that the maximum number of "friends" a person can keep track of in any kind of on-line social media is 150. Some can keep track of a few more, some a few less, but for the majority of people, 150 electronic friends is the max. Once you exceed that you either have fans or they are merely acquaintances.

When I read that, I went through my LinkedIn list and purged my 220+ connections down to 130 or so, by removing people who were friends but did not work in a field related to mine. That allowed me some room to add more connections later. I have also done smaller purges since then, continuing to winnow the list down and narrowing my focus on people who are more likely to be able to help me find a job.

I'm not on Facebook because I can't see that it would add anything positive to my lifestyle. There's nothing it can do for me that I can't do on my own already.

I'm not afraid to unfriend and/or block people. When I see a post from a person I haven't talked to in over a year in person, they get the boot - unless it's an online friend, whom I talk to or interact with on FB or other online communities.
