This is very location specific and generally a bit random, but in the main gift shop at London Zoo there are three copies of Takenoko marked down from forty quid to twenty. There were four, but now one is mine.

Apologies for posting an offer that almost no-one will be able to take advantage of, but I thought that since the summer holidays are here, there's a fair chance that someone might be heading in that direction.

Entry to the zoo costs about twelvety thousand pounds per person, so not a saving if you make a special trip!

I played this the other day, it was light but Ok for what it was. Looks fantastic, so at 20 quid, it's good value. The zumpty trillion extra for entry to the zoo though...

Indeed. London Zoo is sadly now a destination for the wealthy. I used to go quite regularly, no longer, as it is beyond ridiculous for a family of six (over £100)

Use Tesco Clubcard or Nectar Points to get in.

Makes it sort of free.

Sort of.

This is a strange coincidence, I took my SO there on Tuesday but sped through the shop at the end. We didn't think to look!

I see that the £40 they claim it's reduced from, is 33% higher than the RRP which is just £30.

This game is available from one supplier on Amazon for £20 - there's a £5 delivery which should save a little on the Zoo entrance fee but if you're going to the Zoo anyway, (and still have money remaining after that entrance fee!) this looks like a nice game.

Thats around £17 per person for a day out. Is it really that expensive compared to other alternative similar days out?

Tampa zoo offers a discounted family ticket at £16 per person.

For a family of 6 a day out at the following would cost:

Legoland Windsor £185
Longleat £130
London Aquarium £85
Madame Tussaids £120
Cinema £60
Chessington £162

I get that £100 is a lot for a family to pay but it does feel that it's the going rate compared to similar options around London.

The problem is that those are mostly places notorious for cost, whereas we have an awful lot of free days out available - for example a dozen museums in London (all the major ones - British, Natural History, Science, V&A, etc) art galleries, and so on.

Legoland and Tussauds are so expensive natives hardly ever go these days, and Chessingtons was cheap as a Zoo, until they decided to make it a theme park, that happens to have a few animals.

We have much better Zoos than London, and much cheaper sadly.

Or perhaps you could try to weasel your way into the gift shop without going into the zoo itself...

Saw molerats, but no moles.

Tell you what chaps, I'll make sure to look out for board game bargains next time I'm in the gift shops of some of our freer museums and galleries too, that way no one will be left out.

I think they operate on an uncertainty principle.

I went to the gift shop at Stonehenge the other day (after going to Stonehenge. We didn't just have a day out at the gift shop). There was a sign outside saying 'board & card games inside'. I had a look around and could not find a single board game or even a pack of cards! Most disappointing.

Reminds me of a trip to the Big Banana http://www.bigbanana.com/, not one single copy of Bananagrams - opportunity missed!

Presumably in the English Heritage version you buy the sites and then can't build any houses or hotels because of all the protected monuments. Or can you demolish historic buildings willy nilly? Either way it must make for a weird version of the game.

Should London Zoo's gift shop not be stocking games like Zooloretto. Missed opportunity?
