4-4 vs 3-3 being the only difference. The 4 cost makes it less useful as early ice but gives it a little more longevity. I'm debating swapping in 3 or even leaving it 2-2 because my deck needs more early game ICE and I really don't like weenie code gates.

I think a 2-2 split would be my starting point...maybe even 3-2 in favor of Bastion for late game considerations.

Bastion is nice, but 3-cost Ice are preferred because you can rez two of them on turn one without having to have played a Hedge Fund or something. I like it more than Enigma if you want to drop a 3-cost early ice, given Engima's weakness to Yog.0 and the fact that its first sub can generally be ingored. As long as you have other Code Gates to force the runner to get a decoder at some point.

ICE Wall and Eli seem to occupy 6 'barrier' ICE slots.

Bastion may have a place in replacing Wall of Static, but more so I think this gives Jinteki and NBN access to more and improved neutral ICE.

1x Corroder

I like mixing it with Enigma (and now Datapike) to force the runner to get more breakers out. Slows him down. Viper isn't bad either, if you can afford the influence.

I don't really understand this response. The question was "Does Bastion replace Wall of Static?", not "Does Bastion mean I should only have 'end the run' subroutines on my Barrier-type ICE?"...

It honestly depends on the deck.

For the record, my Jinteki is now 3x Snowflake, 2x Bastion.

Sorry if I confused you. I wasn't responding to that question, but to what I had quoted.

I'm not sure it replaces it necessarily, but access to more neutral etr ice is important for the increased flexibility it gives some corps in deck building.

I'd say they're both good. Bastion is a bit better than Wall on R&D because that extra credit to break will add up over repeat runs. You probably want to have a split because Atman is a thing now.

Breaking Eli with Corroder is 4 creds, WoS is 2 creds. Ice wall is 1 cred, but can be boosted. Barriers are there as early-game ETR and money sink later; these numbers are great in my book.

As for Enigma/Datapike/Viper: Yog.0 and Datasucker are too popular right now. I don't feel safe playing more than 1-2 Code Gates in a deck (and that's 1-2 total, not 1-2 types of Code Gates...).

I don't need a Corroder to pass thru Eli.

EDIT :
I mean : outside HB, Eli is OK for HQ and R&D, but WoS and Bastion are for the remote servers. I won't replace my WoS by Eli, I will replace them by Bastion.

I don't fear it. Zed is a crappy sentry and you need to install it before Eli or it does nothing.
Although, I edited my previous message. I added : outside HB...

Actually Zed should be behind Eli, so you won't know he's there until after you've spent your clicks, and then braaaaiiinnnssss

I'm not sure that I often attack a server with two unrezzed pieces of ice without a killer. Maybe.
Even so, one brain isn't the end of the world.

And that's the biggest problem with Zed. Like Cell Portal, he's a theoretically good card but overly sensitive to draw order.

If running on click 1, one of Zombie's 2 subs could be broken by a click.

Eli and Wall of Static are strength 3. Atman will be an issue here - Bastion might see more play in a Atman heavy meta.

Alternatively just get Ice wall and advance it however much you like
