Hi, does anyone has any good recommendation based on the title in this post?
Im looking something that really short as in it can be finished within 20mins or less and can be played with either kids or adults.

EDIT:
Avoid dice games :X

I might try something like Hey, That's My Fish!. It plays well with two, but you could play it with more if the situation called for it.

And penguins are are pretty universal and likable theme, generally speaking.

Ra: The Dice Game: one of the best dice fillers around

Can't Stop: classic dice filler

Biblios: awesome card game that plays well with 2 players and involves drafting and auctions

Scripts and Scribes: The Dice Game: the dice game version of Biblios

Hive is awesome but it plays only 2, but that may be what you are looking for anyway.

If we don't have a whole lot of time, my wife and I like Thurn and Taxis quite a bit. Maybe it's a little more than filler, but setup is pretty quick and we can easily knock out a 2 player game in less than 30 minutes.

We also like 10 Days in Africa as something quick to play.

Love Letter and Flash Duel: Second Edition are both great.

I haven't tried Eight-Minute Empire with just two people yet, but it's certainly fun with more than that and I expect it to hold up with two as well.

Escape: The Curse of the Temple may interest you.

1. plays in 10 mins real time! so takes less than 20 mins including set up.

2. simple and exciting game play. You don't go head-to-head though cos it's a cooperative game.

3. nice theme and components should appeal to both kids and adults.

I think love letter isnt really fun to ply with 2 players only, right?
It will become more easier to know what cards ur opponents might have?

1) Love Letter is weak with 2. Avoid.

2) What is wrong with dice? Some of the best fillers out there involve dice. You seem to like cards ok. Cards can be just as random as dice. Both cards and dice serve the same purpose: introducing randomness into a game.

3) In your case, as it seems you may be opposed to randomness, Hive may be your best bet. It's a chess like game without a board. The pieces are insects and your goal is to swarm your opponent and surround his bee. Good stuff.

4) Seriously...learn to appreciate dice.

I enjoy playing filler games with the same time frame as well. Here's what work for me, family and my friends:

- Archaeology: The Card Game
- +1 Biblios (has dice but not a dice game, it's just used as marker)
- Wildlife Safari
- Morels
- Balloon Cup (about 30mins)
- +1 Jaipur
- Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small (might stretch a little more than 20mins, but it's doable)
- Le Havre: The Inland Port (same as Agricola ACSaB)
- Aliens: This Time It's War or Revolver (20mins for experienced players, very engaging)
- Coloretto
- Hive
- Lords of Scotland (around 30mins)
- No Good Gremlins
- Fzzzt!
- Qwirkle (can be done in 20mins)

All are based on 2 players game.
Let us know what you're getting yeah.

Dont get me wrong, I love game with dice, just that in this case I have to exclude dice for some reasons.

Battle for Hill 218 is my go to 2 player filler. Avoid Love Letter with only two. Bananagrams also can be solid with 2.

Honestly, I think Love Letter with 2 is still fun. It is ridiculously fast and if that appeals to you, go for it.

+1 to Biblios Le Havre: The Inland Port and Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small

+1 Morels - true gem, even my wife will play!

On Love Letter, worth remembering it has a 2 player ancestor - R - though you will have (I believe) to PnP a homebrew copy.

This is a great filler game for 2. It plays quick and the rules are easy, but it is filled with enough strategy, luck, and choice to keep it interesting. My wife and I got into this game as something light to play. We can play a best of 5 rounds in about 45 minutes.

Plato 3000 is great with 2! I had the PnP version (Utopian Rummy) for a while and enjoyed it. Had a chance to put Plato 3000 in an order and it was a great decision.
