Hey all,

My almost-four-year-old son loves trains. He loves everything about them.
We've started gaming together, mostly playing my games non-competitively. He LOVES TransAmerica and Ticket To Ride, though TtR is ever so slightly above his level.

Are there any suggestions for fun kids games with a train theme?

Maybe give String Railway a look. I've not played it, but it was the first title that sprang to mind on reading your post.

It is voted considerably less complex than TtR by the BGG community. Also, I think that kids would probably get a kick out of the tactile element.

Was bored. Did a search.
This looks pretty cool: Engine, Engine No. 9. Not sure about availability, though.
There's Paris Connection, but it is probably too much for him. And of course, Trans Europa, which is very similar to TransAmerica.

Why don't you play Ticket to Ride but with the only goal to be the longest track. Don't worry about the victory points, and when he is ready you can introduce either the destination tickets or the track points.
