It is me or does this feel like a Cthulhu-d up version of Fortune and Glory? You travel around the map, have adventures in locations via an encounter deck... Seems quite similar. The difference, of course, is that FanG has great minis – is this game really going to come with standees?

It does. It also sounds a lot like Arkham Horror: travel around thee map and have different adventure there.

I think there is going to be a few more differences than just minis. And as another poster pointed out, Arkham Horror did the "travel around the map [of Arkham], have adventures in locations via an encounter deck" long before Foturne & Glory. In fact Arkham Horror did it first back in 1987.

How about we all agree that "A global adventure, involving encounters and minions" is a "thing" now. And saying that any game that has these elements is trying to just be a clone is a worthless argument.

And it IS a different game. While having some thematic similarity, its mechanics will be different. Just because it uses cards to convey encounters does not make it "just like Arkham Horror" anymore than card drawing and deck building makes all CCGs/LCGs the same game.

Isn't that like saying all worker placement games are the same?

This might be a bit of a non sequitor and maybe not important, but Flying Frog abreviates Fortune & Glory as FanG, for obvious reasons.

No, I seriously doubt it will be anything like Agents of Smersh. Again, just because the board depicts the continent, does not mean the games mechanics will be similar. Agents of Smersj may tell a story, but the gameplay decisions boil down to flipping a coin as to what choice to make. I'm pretty sure Eldritch will have the one thing Agents is missing, meaningful gameplay decisions that are not hobbled by random guessing.

Why not just use F&G?

EDIT: Or FnG?

I know not their reasons, only the results.

I assume because you can pronounce it phonetically without offending someone.

I was thinking these two games look similar in mechanics, but then I noticed that Eldritch Horror has double the play time? 180 minutes vs Fortune and Glory at 90?

Has anyone worked out some of the finer differences?
