I just read (more in depth) the flavor text on Levy AR Lab Access, which says:
"Spend too much time in the AR Lab and someone might notice. Unless you're head of it, that is"
And looking at the picture which look alot like the professors arms makes me think that hes the one accessing it, (and not being noticed). Plus of course he's a professor and Levy is a University.

edit: Its for a school project

This page just says he's a teacher who tangled with HB, no mention of a position of authority.

The professor no longer works at Levy University.

Even when he did, he was not the head of the university. He was the head of a lab funded by HB.

Levy university is named after James Levy, the head of one of the wealthiest families in New Angeles. (Of course, this doesn't mean that Levy is "head of Levy".)

So the Professor could well have been the head of the AR (advanced robotics? AI/Robotics?) Lab.

Augmented Reality. It's the concept of overlaying electronic imagery over things we perceive in the real world, which is precisely what is seen on the card (the rings of light around the hand). You can also see this in Omni-Drive, for example.

As far as I can tell from the background, it seems relatively clear the Professor does still work at Levy (the page you link to references him being loaded up with morning and evening classes); it just seems like he was blacklisted by HB and forced off the good projects and teaching assignments.

The way I see it, he has tenure, so they can't fire him (even the power of the corps is nothing compared to the combination of bureaucracy, inertia, and sheer stubborn jobsworth-ness of a university), but they can give him the crap jobs. (At his level, he shouldn't be "loaded up with morning and evening classes," he should be doing good research and teaching maybe one advanced seminar.)

But also, he is the head of the AR lab, which is why he can leverage their resources. Including their extremely powerful, extremely expensive console, nicknamed "the Monolith," which costs some obscene amount of credits per hour of uptime, but then, who's going to question the AR lab head's use of the AR lab?

And I'm pretty certain that the University is really named after Steven Levy, a notable journalist who has frequently written about computer and technology. Perhaps most well-known for his 1984 book "Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution".

On a slightly related note, I wonder if there is any connection here to R&D Interface which has the flavor text, "Works best at your own desk". I thought that connected quite well with the Lab Access card.
