Tonight, 2 of the 3 players at the table tied for the high score.
We checked the rules and there is nothing that talks about how to break the tie.

Does anyone know what to do in case of a tie to determeine who won the game?

Thanks in advance for any help.

We play it if a person that was tied for lead is holding an unplayed admiral, they'd win the tie-breaker... if not, the person with the most pirates in hand would win. Other than that, I'd say it would be a straight up tie. There shouldn't be a bonus for merchant ships in hand at the end of the game.

Just some home brew... nothing official.

We were close to having this happen in our last game. So it got me to thinking about tie-breakers.

My current thinking is:

First tie-breaker ought to be to the player who seized the most merchant ships (without subtracting the in-hand vessels).

Second tie-breaker would be to the player who seized the highest value merchant ship (puts a little more emphasis on winning the 7 and 8 gold value ships).

Thoughts?
