From one of the designers, Kevin G. Nunn, on facebook:

Quote:
For the last year, a single game design has consumed me. Sentinels of the Multiverse: the Board Game. In only a few days, the SotM:BG will make its world debut at Gen Con.

http://sentinelsofthemultiverse.com/

It's been a huge undertaking. Getting to play in the Greater Than Games sandbox has been incredibly rewarding. Having the opportunity to bring a new dimension to their characters made me grow as a designer. Luther Hendricks has been a fantastic design partner who brought his own flair to the project. You'll want to be the first to check it out.

See you at Gen Con!

That's pretty cool. I imagine that's what that picture was.

Can't wait to get more information on this. I would love to see what they do with a board game. If it comes with minis, which I think it does, I'm just going to mail them my credit card to make things easier.

Perhaps the funniest and truest post I've ever read on BGG. Thanks!

Don't really care about minis and all that. Just hope it holds up to the greatness of the card game.

It has different scenarios, powers you can shift around based on the situation, hex grid.

Was fun designing and developing it with >Games.

Cool. Will there be any crossover with the card game, or is it 100% independent? I'm guessing it'll be entirely its own thing, but since it shares a story universe, I'm curious how it will fit within the continuity.

Powers are all from the card game or follow their same patterns.
Missions are based on comic book style missions and also the card game's flavor text. Continuity is maintained due to the close work between the groups.
I'm positive Christopher and Paul will have a massive write up and you can always demo it.
I will say, we've probably played more sentinels than anyone I've ever met since it was getting played multiple times almost every night for a year.

Sorry I missed that! Our group just started playing it and we love it. I'd play it every night if I get get it out on the table. But too many great games out there for that to happen now.

If it's co-op (and therefore solo-able), I will definitely buy it.

If it requires two or more players, then I will only probably buy it.

The core game has been developed to support two or more players.

We DO have solitaire scenariis in development, however. :-)

Please have minis. Then we can homebrew up some Sentinels of the Multiverse vs Guardians Chronicles battles.

If it doesn't have minis, please make action figures.

I want to put the Sentinels on a shelf next to my Marvel and DC friends.

I really hope this is not a 1 vs all because that would be the only reason I wouldn't buy it...

The game is a more competitively focused game than the Sentinels of the Multiverse card game -- the game will have some scenarios that involve a single player controlling the Villian and associated minions with the other players teaming up to take them down, but other scenarios will have different player arrangements. Some scenarios might involve multiple Villian players, or no Villian players at all.

soblue Part of what makes Sentinels of the Multiverse so enjoyable is the cooperative nature of the game. I suppose I can enjoy some of the scenarios from the board game version at least... soblue
