In my opinion, the Dragon change the game too much, so I propose these variants:

- When the dragon goes on a tile where there is already a meeple, then the owner of the meeple can give 5 points to the dragon to be saved instead of been killed [5 points is a guess, maybe it is too much or not enough...]. The dragon does not eat the meeple but takes the "money" since the dragon loves "shiny things". The Dragon has a special marker on the board to count his treasure.

- Each player have also one and only one meeple with a mark under is foot. This meeple is a knight, and only the owner of the meeple knows where his knight is! If the dragon goes on a knight, then the dragon is killed by the knight, and the knight find 1/5 of the treasure of the dragon. The rest of the treasure is lost, and the marker of the dragon on the board is returned to 0. The dragon will come back in play on the next volcano.

- [Optional] The knight is now discovered (when a dragon goes on it), and have less power! The meeple is placed slept on his tile. When the meeple scores, if it is tie, then it scores half the points. If the player has the majority, then it scores all the points.
