Ok BGGers, let's hear about your music...what CD's are in your car right now?

Mine:
Rush - R30 (Live in Frankfurt)
Coheed & Cambria - Apollo IV (I'm not typing the whole title!!)
Pink Floyd - Animals
U2 - Zooropa
Dane Cook - Retaliation

CDs? None. I have a 40 gig Creative Labs Zen MP3 player that is currently holding:

a ton of podcasts I need to listen to including Dice Tower and GeekSpeak
every Metallica album
every Megadeth album
every Kiss album
every Mudvayne
every Godsmack album
every Disturbed album
every Slipknot album
a lot of 80s hair metal (Ratt, Poison, Queensryche, Dokken, Y&T, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Dio, Blue Murder, Cinderella, Warlock, WASP, Slaughter, Brittany Fox, and more)

OK, more serious answer:
The latest CDs added to my MP3 player (which I listen to mostly in the car):

My Flame Burns Blue - Elvis Costello (brand new release. Elvis now dabbling in jazz)

The Producers - Original Broadway Score (saw the original broadway cast a couple of years ago. Best damn musical I've seen since Sweeny Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Suck it, cast from Cats)

The Wind - Warren Zevon (a little maudlin at times, but an excellent farewell. Enjoy every sandwich)

The Lost Episodes, Volume 5 - Bob & Ray (the latest addition to my extensive Bob & Ray library. Radio gods! That's them in my new uberbadge)

My entire Kiss collection. (My guilty pleasure. Not strictly CDs ripped to my player, but vinyl converted to mp3s.)

Bunch of Podcasts - including The Dice Tower, and The Vintage Gamer.

DUDE!!! I used to have CDs by all of these bands. In fact, the local alternative radio station played a lot of this stuff over the weekend in their "Retro" weekend, and made me feel old. The 80s shouldn't be retro. cry

By the way, it's spelled Britny Fox, man, get it right.

I call this variety of metal "cock rock." It's just so fitting:

Ipod filled with all kinds of stuff from Metallica to Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Guns N' Roses, to John Mayer to Monty Python to DDR Megamixes to video game soundtracks....

As far as CDs, I still have Garbage's "Bleed Like Me", the Star Wars Episode III Soundtrack, Evanescence's "Fallen", John Mayer Trio, and the LOTR Soundtrack.

My minivan is loaded up with gems like Raffi's first three albums, Julie Andrews, Beethoven's Wig 1 & 2, Pimsleur French I & II, and a Beatles greatest hits disc.

I do have two of my CDs in there, buring behind the tripe. MC Frontalot's Nerdcore Rising, and a burned CD full of power metal (Edguy, Nightwish, Freedom Call, Kamelot, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica).

Mostly though, we listen to Raffi. Sigh.

Actually I do have Whitesnake on there but no Europe. I can remember listening to Final Countdown back in the day but don't think I could do it again. cool

I know how you feel. Around here the "oldies" station play 60's, 70's and 80's music. I remember my mother listening to Elvis on the oldies station. Now my kids watch me listening to Skid Row on the oldies station. It just ain't right. cry

Final Countdown and Europe are on my list..."Bands/Songs I never, ever need to hear again".

I hated that song but bands/songs on my list aren't necessarily bad, just overplayed over the years...

A sample...
Led Zepplin
What I like About You - Romantics
Mony Mony
Stranglehold - Nuge
Children of the Sun ::shudder::

I have a 60 Gb iPod that's (so far) only about 15% full - but I generally only use it for longer drives (lots of Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Nick Cave, Greg Brown, Beethoven symphonies); and, listen to alot of NPR and the local college station. But, I have second copies of several CDs that are permanently housed in the truck ...

Neil Young: Ragged Glory
Clash: London Calling
Bob Marley: Legend
U2: Achtung Baby
Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder: Talking Timbuktu
Bob Dylan: Time Out of Mind
Sarah McLachlan: Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
Paul Simon: Rhythm of the Saints
Sting: Dream of the Blue Turtles
King Crimson: Thrak
Peter Gabriel: Shaking the Tree (b/o)
Television: self-titled (from the 80s)
a Josquin with the Tallis Scholars
Robyn Hitchcock: Perspex Island
John McLaughlin & Shakti: Live (in Bombay, I believe)

... and there may be one or two more I'm forgetting (edits ... yes, Tuatara's first album; Lucinda Williams: Essence; Radiohead: OK Computer).

Today, I listened to:

The Liars - Drums not Dead

http://pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/l/liars/drums-not-d...

THIS ALBUM ROCKS OUT (and must be played at full volume)

Other things in my car:

Bohren - Black Earth (dark film noir jazz from a German death metal band)

Peter Brotzmann - Be Music Night (free jazz and poetry)

Boris - Pink (psychedelic heavy metal from japan)

The Books - Thought for Food (folk-psych-techno sound collage... reminds me of Nick Drake meets John Cage meets Massive Attack)

Acid Mothers Temple - New Geocentric World (more psychedelic heavy metal from japan)

My Morning Jacket - Z (odd mix of prog rock and kentucky fried)

Lyrics Born - Same S%$& Different Day (best Hip-Hop album of 2005)

That's funny. CDs are only unwieldy if you HAVE THE NEED TO CARRY YOUR ENTIRE MUSIC COLLECTION with you.

You are a musician, do you sell CDs or is that also too unwieldly? How do you autograph an MP3?
