So I am getting a cup of coffee this morning from a Starbucks located inside a Dominick’s grocery store (Dominick’s is a Chicago chain owned by Safeway) and I see a poster with a big Monopoly board. The board has a Dominick’s on it but I couldn’t read the properties. Anyway, the poster reads “If your store team has no accidents from January through March each team member will receive a limited edition Dominick’s monopoly set”.

My head filled with thoughts:

“They are using board games as incentives … that’s good”
“The board game is Monopoly … that’s bad”
“Maybe this is a sign of better times ahead for gaming … that’s good”
“I can’t believe their coffee machine is broken … that’s bad”

This last thought jarred me back to reality.
