The first game was scenario 1, raid chit G, target Dover. Convoy was set up in 0702. At start there were form up counters in the Cherbourg box and in 1339, both 40+. RAF 1.5 early, 1 late, chose to set up 1 flight of 238 squadron in orbit over the convoy, and 74(Tiger) squadron over Dover (we made an error here I notice as I read the scenario again, this should have been over it's own airfield, but could have been a different squadron over Hawkinge had we known). The late squadron was 615 on the way from Kenley to the south coast at Angels 8, headed for Brighton. (Had I studied the raid table and known there was no raid that could go near Brighton, I wouldn't have sent it there, but that's life.) The first random event had the channel patrol performing an impromptu fighter sweep, which knocked down a spitfire losing a 109 and sent the squadron pancaking home. This meant another squadron had to scramble, (forgot to note which one) and I was already over the raid limit. The form up counter over Cherbourg vanished and the one in the Pas de Calais turned into a 20+ detected raid. I was unable to get anyone to Dover and into orbit to hit them before they got there, so was only able to attack the raid at Dover whilst another squadron (151) launched from Manston. The spitfires were beaten off and forced to pancake by the escort, though shooting down a 109 and the bombers dived down to Angels 2 and bombed Dover for 15VPs. 151 squadron chased them over the water, avoiding the channel patrol but losing 1 Hurricane when intercepting.

Total score 15 for bombing, 4.5 for over reacting, 2.5 for RAF fighters shot down, -3 for 2 109s shot down over Britain for 19 against a raid requirement of 14. Short, but got me used to the rules, despite horrendous dice. (The channel patrol getting rid of my early squadron which was in the right place was huge, and there was only a 1 in 6 chance of it happening even after the event had been rolled.)
