Hi
Board Game Veteran, BattleLore Noob here

Wanted it for ages but as you know out of print. I finally got one from ebay but there are missing bits even though sold as complete cry

Missing Minis:
• 4 Heavy Iron Dwarf Swordsman
• 12 Iron Dwarf Swordsman
• 4 Iron Dwarf Crossbowman (later called Arbalestiers)
• 6 Hobgoblin Cavalry
• 4 Hobgoblin Swordsman
• 16 Goblin Skirmisher / Swordsman
• 4 Hobgoblin Archers
Also missing Banners:
2 Blue Swords Std
1 Green Cavalry Pen
2 Green Infantry Pen
1 Green Archer Pen
2 random??
+ all 6 from Call to Arms:
1 Green Standard Archer
1 Blue Standard Regular Infantry
1 Green Standard Cavalry
2 Green Pennant Crossbowman
1 Red Pennant Heavy Infantry
+ 2 large Monster Banners

Now i think i can switch around my other monster banners to make do, question is - IS THE GAME PLAYABLE? Does anyone have extras of my missing bits and want to part with them? Are any of my extra bits any use to anyone?

I got:
Battlelore Main Game
Call to Arms
Dragons (opened but unpunched)
For Troll & Country (just a map yeah??)
Earth Elemental (missing banner otherwise cards mint)
Hill Giant (banner tip broken otherwise cards mint)

+ extras bits which are from some gob expansion or more not sure?:

2 extra card stands

BattleLore: Goblin Skirmishers Specialist Pack Bits only?
3 Goblin Drummers (also in BattleLore: Goblin Marauders Specialist Pack)
4 Specialist cards (Goblin Band, Goblin Drummers, Goblin Slingers, Hobgoblin Spear Bearers)
4 Weapon Summary cards (Bass Drum, Goblin Drum, Sling, Spear Bearer)

BattleLore: Goblin Marauders Specialist Pack Bits only?
4 Specialist cards (Goblin Band, Goblin Drummers, Goblin Marauders (2))
3 Weapon Summary cards (Bass Drum, Goblin Drum, Reflex Bow)
1 Unit Summary card (Hyena Riders)

BattleLore: Dwarven Battalion Specialist Pack Bits only?
3 Specialist cards (Iron Dwarves Axe Swingers, Bagpipers, Spear Bearers)
3 Weapon Summary cards (Bagpiper, Battle Axe, Spear Bearer)

Thoughts?

I would ask for lots of money back.

It is probably partly playable, in that you could make your own scenarios and some of the missions would work, but that's a lot of missing stuff.

Yup.
Unless you paid about $50 I'd request the money back in full including shipping.
I would then also request a label or funds to return the items.
If they resist report to eBay and PayPal that the item was not as described.
They sshould help you get your money back.
If that doesn't work contact the credit card company or bank that you actually used for the purchase and claim fraud.

All in all, whether it be the seller or past em, be patient and they'll be more likely to work it out.
But get on it because eBay and PayPal have a 60 or 90 day policy.
After that you are boned.
Keep us updated.

Like Ropya said. It's always a good idea to ask politely to start with and not go straight to angry mode, but I believe that ebay want products to be honestly described, so it's important to follow it up.

Even if you can play some of the scenarios with what you've got.

agree, don't wait too long
I did that once when I was waiting on them to sort it out and next thing you know, I was screwed ... nothing I could do
even the e-mails proved my case, but ...

Are just those figures and banners all that you're missing from the main game and the expansions you have? What about the Lore and Command Decks (and Call to Arms), are those complete? Do you have the rules and scenarios for the base game and the expansions? It sounds like you have the needed specialist cards from the expansions.

If you want your money back for receiving an incomplete set when you were sold a complete one, then I'd get with the seller ASAP. Total agreement with everyone here.

But I will say that if worse comes to worse and you're stuck with it, so long as you have the rules, decks, dice, gameboard, and scenarios, then you have the absolute minimum needed to play the game. It sucks to be short on figures and banners, but those can probably be proxied from among the pieces you have left.

What you might do is match a banner with its proper figure for the number of units you have. Then fill out the units as best you can when setting up a scenario and use a spare of another type when you find yourself short. The banner defines the unit. The number of figures denote its current strength.

True, it could be made to work.
But with the amount of money probably spent it shouldn't be needed to be done like that.

I'd say contact the seller requesting a refund for selling an item not as described.
And included that you need the refund by the 1st of Oct.
If by the first you do not have the money back, then I would contact eBay and PayPal.
And if the seller demands the product returned before refund, kindly remind them that you had to pay before the item was shipped, a refund should be no different.
