I know the hold the line system and really enjoy playing it.
No doubt this game will also bring lots oF joy but for me it is just not different enough to first fork down 50+ euros for Frederick, and than another 20 for the Highland expansion. wich I would have to do cause the expansion would have been my reason for buying this.
But if you are into the period I am sure you will enjoy it. The designer is very much into history and I'm sure you'll find the battle discriptions very informative and interesting.
For me however, having been into the Scottish wars for years and years, it doesn't have enough historical flavour.
I would have liked a game where the clans are mentioned and represented by there colours rather than being mentions as highland or militia and being represented by the personal standard of the prince.
[a game in the style of Monmouth etc]
I now wonder if there is such a game. Haven't found it yet.
To clarify nothing against this game, as said I'm sure it'll be fun even though they've made the counters thinner, and if I can get it a bit cheaper I may even be convinced to go buy it, but I'm looking for a game with just a bit more detail and was hoping to find out if there is such a thing.
