Does anyone know if the X-wing will come with all the same common pilot cards as a standard X-wing ship expansion? That would be a nice touch.

Huh? Like the Rookie and Red Squadron Pilot? Not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised. Although I wouldn't call it a "nice touch." Having plenty of those already, I'd like to see four all new cards.

They've already announced that one of the pilots is going to be Jek Porkins from ANH. There will likely be one other pilot included as well as the two generic (Rookie, Rogue Squadron) pilots that come with all of the X-Wings.

I'm hoping that we'll see Corran Horn as the second pilot.

As stated there is at least 1 new pilot card. I'd be surprised if they supplied repeats on such a hefty purchase. I hope that they will all be new, as it would add inventive to invest in the product.

I am betting on all new non-unique pilots, based on how the Imperial Aces pack is structured.

Well, the Aces pack does come with some already released non-unique pilots (saber squadron pilot) but I see your point, it may have some new non-unique pilots.

Jek Porkins and Wes Janson have been confirmed. I'm guessing Porkins will be a PS 4-6 and Janson will be 7 or 8. Would be awesome if they included a generic pilot that had an elite skill slot.

The press release from FFG states 4 NEW pilots for the X-Wing, including Janson and Porkins. So it sounds as if we will either get two additional named pilots that are as yet unspoiled or two new generics (maybe Rogue and Renegade?).

Hobbie seems like the next logical choice. I'd especially like Corran, but he didn't join up with the Rebellion until after the Battle of Endor, which might disqualify him from consideration.

I always want them to include the original generics too, that way I can run all the X-wings I own if I want to. Without those I'd have to proxy or be one short if I wanted to run, say four X-wings. I own three and was hoping to get this transport and use the escort instead of buying a fourth solo X.

I'm REALLY hoping there aren't new generics, unless they give you like a stack of them...that would be a really lame inclusion because I doubt many folks are going to buy multiple Rebel Transports. New Uniques are great though!

VERY good point. Like if there was a Rogue Squadron generic, I'd go broke buying enough transports to field them.

I'm trusting in FFG on this one.

Seems odd to me that they included an X-Wing in this product. Seems it would have avoided much of the criticism if they had omitted it.

I imagine it was more a question of their cost. They probably cast gobs of X-Wing minis, so their margins on that are quite high (all costs already sunk). In looking at what they'd have to set the MSRP at for the transport, to cover cost of production with desired margins, they decided on $60...and in looking at the model and upgrades in it, decided nobody would spend $60 for that on its own.

So they needed to add something to it that would considerably increase its value to the market while only marginally increasing its cost to produce.

Ergo, new X-Wing repaint.

(Or, I suppose more specifically, they may have decided they could sell the transport on its own and get the margins they wanted for it at $55. Or they could sell it with an X-Wing repaint that includes some new pilots for $60. A bit of market research later, and they decide they will move a lot more units at better profit with the second option vs the first.)

Oddly enough, I'd be more excited for this product if it didn't include the X-wing. I'd rather see just the Transport with (perhaps) a selection of unique X-wing pilot cards and weapon/gear/etc cards but no miniature. I fear that this set is going to do the money-grabbing move of including a new common pilot and having him be super-awesome. Then I won't buy any of it, at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new X-Wing pilots are for Epic and Cinema mode only. Their abilities are probably going to have to do with the larger ships on the table. Plus it would force players to buy this if they want to have all the options to play in the regular tournament format.

That said I wonder if the upgrades will be legal in regular tournament play? I guessing they won't be legal or they will be upgrades we already have.

I hope this is right. Anything were people feel pressured to buy expensive models because they're the only way of obtaining cheap pieces of cardboard is wrong. People should want to buy this to get the transport, not a new upgrade card, or pilot mount card.

The only reason you'd "Need" the cards is for tournament play. That is only a subset of the player-base. Since FFG puts most the card images up on their site and/or they become easy enough to Google, the card issue has easy workarounds.

Well, just in case there are people who have missed it, the identities of the X-Wing pilots coming in the transport have been released.

- Wes Janson PS8 EPS
- Jek Porkins PS7 EPS
- Derek "Hobbie" Klivian PS5 No EPS
- Tarn Mison PS3 No EPS

There's a whole bunch of upgrade cards including new astromechs, a new type of torpedo ("flechette torpedos"), new crew including EM-DEE droid, Toryn Farr, Jan Dodonna and Carlist Riekann. Several new cards that can be used on and with the capital ships, and the GR-75 ship titles include the "Treasure Trove" and "Quantum Storm".

This is by no means a complete list, the pictures are a little fuzzy.

Also, the transport is missing any kind of attack, just boost other ships. So it seems logical to include fighter so you can use the transport with it.
