Each red or blue or black PP that is saved has to have a yellow PP to save with it. So to save 3 red PP costs 3 yellow PP as well. Does it have to be a unique yellow PP? So if there are 3 red and 3 black and 3 blue PP to save, must there be 9 yellow PP? Or only 3 yellow PP to save 3 of each other type?

I think one yellow PP for each blue, black or red. So you would need 9 yellow PP to save 3 red, 3 black and 3 blue PP. This is what is meant by "pairing".

9 is the right number in this example
