Hi,

I have recently ordered Zombicide and am looking forward to playing the game when it arrives.

I would like to ask, has anyone considered using military figures for the survivors? I like the idea of the players being members of a military team fighting back against the zombie outbreak in the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Has anyone considered using military figures with the game, and if so, what figures did you use?

I personally have not thought about adding military figures to the game before now, but it sounds like it could be fun. If I were to get some miniatures for it, I would look at Hasslefree Miniatures line of Modern Troopers. I have a couple of their other miniatures as proxies for season 1 promos. Good quality and really quick shipping (even to the U.S.!)

I do not have them painted up yet but have thought of using the DEVGRU/SEAL 6 figs from Eureka. I have them and they are FANTASTIC sculpts and the scale seems to fit.

Eureka also has 80's US and Soviets in NBC/MOPP gear which would be really darned cool.

The SEALs:

The range: http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_150

Having said that, the Empress range is equally nice.

Here are some Empress SOF types. Gotta love the beards.

They do have regular troops as well.

These guys from Heroscape would probably work great. They just need a bit of stat modifying. The MIB guys would be pretty cool as well.

Lots of great looking figures there!

As far as scenarios go, I would think they would be things like rescue missions (extract VIP from zombie-infested neighbourhood), escort missions (protect government biohazard scientist) and that sort of thing. As the soldiers would start with all manner of weaponry like assault rifles, grenade launchers and SMGs the missions would have to be pretty tough.

The sort of look that would be ideal is a gas-masked equipped special forces soldier, similar to the "Iranian Embassy Siege" SAS. These are 1/32 scale Airfix figures. Are they the right scale?

1/32 is too big for these. If I remember correct 1/32 puts a figure at about 54mm and these are closer to 25/28mm which would be 1/64.

Eureka Miniatures and Empress Miniatures, along with Hasslefree, are IMHO the BEST around. Great variety, and easy to paint. Highly recommended.

These SWAT figures (by "The Assault Group") might do for elite rescue squads...

Whilst I'm thinking of it, here are some suggestions for a good mix of figures which would not be too overpowered.

Commander: Starts with pistol with tac-light
Breach Guy: Starts with pump-action shotgun
Assault Guy: Starts with SMG
Marksman Guy: Starts with M16 with Scope

Any more than that would probably be too much so spare players could play trapped VIPs/civilians or escorted scientists a la "World War Z".

[EDIT]

There are also some great 1:64 scale vehicles here that could replace the cars in the game (in particular, a great-looking police cruiser).

I have these guys for SWAT types:

I love 'em. You can get them here:

http://armorcast.com/store/index.php?cPath=116_92

I also have the cops, high tech bad guys and some of the others. Really nice figs. My painting does not do them justice.

Here are a couple of the normal cops with a 1:43 diecast cop car:

Check out Heroclix Gotham Cops I created a bunch here:

you can find stats and such here:

http://johnnylingster.blogspot.com/

And cars for Zombicide are best if you use between 1:48 and 1;55 scale.

1/64 is too small, and 1:43 is a tad too big.

They explained everything in detail and at great length. After they finished I sat, despondent, contemplating a bleak and empty future. "I’m glad you’re depressed" said one. "It means you’ve understood the situation.”

Nice thread!

Inspired by World War Z (the book, not the movie) I intend to use these Eureka 1980's Soviets in NBC suits to represent Russian third-line troops:

I did up customs for the majority of American and Germans from Tannhauser, that game's out of print but you can get it cheap some places, and I'm sure it will be part of FFG's Christmas sale. So not only can you get some new figs, but it's a pretty good game too.

I did a good bit of back-story so the character designs would make sense.

It's not out for a while (as the Kickstarter only went live half an hour ago!) but the Mars Attacks! military miniatures look like they will be suitable.

Well I'm hanging onto my early bird for now. I loved the movie and the miniatures are fantastic, but I'm going to try and be responsible and let my head rule my heart on this one. They mentioned a gameplay video going up over the weekend or early next week, I'll see how that looks, rules would be great too, but the second they add some giant robots and/or crab monsters it'll probably be too late for me to back out.

It's basically the same as Deadzone which I'm already in for. If I was really into the MA universe I think it would be one that I was more inclined to get in for but I've been good with Kickstarter recently so I'm going to keep it that way I think!
