Answer in title

I have the old edition and think about upgrading, but if I do not like it: Can I still play the old way? Or will there be problems with the components?

Thanks!

You toast the waffle.

In a syrupy voice, the awful waffle walker tries to butter you up.

There shouldn't be a problem. The only big change component wise was the addition of an expansion in the box.

You can play the old rules with the new edition. The only change I see is the events are different.

Try to be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.

You can... but you shouldn't.

There is a rules change but I forget exactly what it is. It's the turn order mechanism from Shogun. Something like that.

It's an improvement, even for an old, stodgy don't-change-anything-to-my-favorite-games kinda guy like me.
