I saw the post for the get together in Maine, which is 4+ hours from where I am. I never really see any groups for southern New England though. So I'm just curious as to how many board game geeks are here in CT? If it's only a group of like 4-5 people maybe we could play some games? If more, well I'm not the convention planning type of person. Basically I would like to play some board games.
Games I have that I would most like to play (willing to teach)
Last Night on Earth: The Zombie Game
Mage Knight Board Game
Quarriors!

Games I don't have but most want to play
Catan
Twilight Imperium (Third Edition) (I know this is a big one but I'm game)
Runewars

Other games are cool too and if there's something in my collection anyone wants to try let me know.
The main purpose behind this post is to see if there is any interest.

Oh, and I'd like to try Dominion, and Smash Up

Hehe, yeah I forgot about this, but I thought it was just a comics convention, or am I confusing it with the other one here. I can always do PAX east too.

Hello, its nice to know there are still geeks in my hometown. There is a group I belong to that meets in Watertown twice a month. Their next meetup is on Oct 6th at 1pm. Its open to all!

Here is their thread:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/13392567#13392567

Post in there and say hi to Todd or Seth, they organize the meetups.

Also there is a monthly meetup in Newington at the Connecticon store going on this Saturday. Its a little farther but it is a large group with lots of space.

Hope to see you soon

Cheers

Board gaming every Wednesday evening at Battlegrounds Gaming in Norwalk.
also
The Connecticut Game Club meets 9am - 12am the 2nd Saturday of every month at the Stratford Hotel in (yep, you guessed it) Stratford.
EDIT: The Connecticut Game Club now meets at Homewood Suites by Hilton in Stratford, a much nicer place to game. Free coffee too!

There is a group just minutes from you in Waterbury that meets twice monthly. Check out this ongoing thread for more info.

Also, if you are on Facebook I recommend the group Boardgaming in CT. It's pretty active.

Hey guys I wanna thank all of you for this info. I've favorite placed the sites you referenced and I'm gonna start checking out those groups. The watertown and new haven groups are pretty close to me so I'm happy about that. Once again, thank all of you.

(I'm not abandoning this post, just giving thanks for the help.)

I posted a response for you on the Waterbury thread.

You should also do what I did when initially joining BGG. Scroll backwards through this section by date.

Just to help clarify, there are three different conventions with similar names.

ConnCon is a small gaming convention in Stamford every March. It's just RPGs and board games, but the board game section in particular has been growing very fast the last few years. People seem to enjoy it, and it seems to be popular with the BoardGameGeek crowd (disclosure: I run the board game section at ConnCon so I'm biased) cool . We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2013.

ConnectiCon is a HUGE Anime/Pop Culture convention in Hartford, usually in July (I think). The primary focus seems to be Anime/CosPlay, but they do have sections for RPGs and Board Games and do get very significant numbers for those events. ConnectiCon also hosts board games at their headquarters in Newington every month. I haven't made it yet but it is a good group of people.

ComiConn is probably what you were thinking of. This is a comic book convention held at the Trumbull Marriott in August. This was their second year. There are no gaming events at ComiConn.

ComiConn is the one I was thinking of. I hadn't heard of the other two before but now I'll think about checking them out.

If you're looking for a regular play location us at ConnectiCon have a local game store in Newington with board game nights on Thursdays until early morning and all day game days on the third Saturday of each month. Our library of 500 games is free to play in store and we offer year round 20% discounts if you preregister for our convention but are publicly open even if you can't.
