Hey everyone,

I'm doing some research for a project on the board game industry. I was reading an article about how Mattel bought the rights to Apples to Apples after Apples to Apples won the award for game of the year in 2007. Is that pretty typical of Mattel to wait until a game has proven itself, or do they also take some risks? Also do they also come up with game ideas themselves or do they normally just buy other creators' games after they've had some success? Thanks!
