Hi All,

A small hitch with the components photo. Unfortunately the weather here in Scotland was uncharacteristically wet and gloomy (who would have thunk it!?). Without a photo studio, a decent camera and any sort of talent, I was unable to take a decent picture.

However, a promise is a promise, so here is what I managed, uploaded to my personal gallery:

I am not going to put this into the game images as it not a great picture, and this is not the finished board, but a lower res print out onto normal paper. The two buildings, trees and sleds are as they will be in the game. I shall take a photo of the other two buildings when I get a chance.

We have something like 200-250 pre-orders still available, so if you want to reserve one I would not hang about too long.

Any questions, just ask

cheers,
Fraser

Oh.
Oh dear.
And I sincerely hoped for cute figurines in the game.

Well.
let's see what further updates bring to the table.
So far, I have to say that this is not what I envisioned.
And possibly not what I would be interested in, either...

I admit I'm a little surprised here. I was expecting cool sled figurines as well.

That image should stall the orders!

The trees are nice. But after the awesome minis from Poseidon's Kingdom and Spellbound I have to admit that the buildings are a wee bit disappointing.
I already expected that the player figures would look like that as only trees and buildings were announced as miniatures.

Maybe that oversized board will do the trick this year and leave us speechless. And as long as the game is fun, that's alright.

I could also see myself using the trees and houses as winter decoration on my window-sill. ;-)

Fraser, I would pay $10 for a PDF of the rules and some printable components that would allow me to upgrade my copy of Snow Tails. I bet that I'm not the only one. That might be a nice source of revenue for you guys for very little investment.

Wow, tough crowd. I suppose everyone has forgotten that the original Snow Tails had the same sleds (and no other 3D bits except the trees) and was still a good game?

Yes, SnowTails was a good game.
But what it didn't need to be a good game was houses or trees.
And, all in all, it was quite a few bucks less and still a pretty good game.

It is also one of the good games that I didn't like. Increased by it not having cute figurines. But that is just me...

I love me some Fragor, but I too will say that I am sufficiently underwhelmed. Since you basically have to pre-order on a whim based on components alone in order to get one of their games, a mediocre component picture makes it a likely pass for me. I'll be taking my chances and waiting for some more pics.

Hi Guys,

As mentioned, the photo does not do it justice. What you are looking at is a postage stamp. You need to see the trees and buildings in the context of the whole game to see how they fit. (I knew I should have flown Danzer over to take a photo...)

The game will contain:
1 huge board (84 x 56cm)
200 cards
8 wooden sleds
20 scale model trees and bases
4 resin buildings
8 dice (no, not for rolling...)
30 wooden discs
You might even get a set of rules in there.

I hope you can see we are not skimping! (The original Snow Tails was €35 5 years ago, with components for up to 5)

cheers,
Fraser

Oh, I wouldn't think you'd skimp! The issue is just that people snatch up the games so quick, all you usually have to go on is components. I can justify taking a chance on an unknown game with amazing bits that is really eye-catching. Take a stab in the dark at a game with just a whole lot of bits though? People don't stop and gawk and say "What is that game you have with 200 cards?!?" so I'd have to know it is a good game in order to buy.

No accusation or complaint here, just stating the how it is. I'll take a stab at some lovely figures, but probably not at some buildings and trees. I love my copy of Poseidon's Kingdom and I understand the reasons behind the small print runs. It is just that this game doesn't have anything that jumps out and says "You must own this"...it says "lets see what this game is like"...and alas, there is no time for that with a Fragor. I'm sure people will buy them up and love the game, but, for me at least, by the time I'm convinced the games will be gone.

I suppose that's a sign that you are not the target demographic.

I'm pretty certain the words "target demographic" are never uttered when the Lamont brothers decide to publish a game, and if they are, "people who buy a game sight unseen" is not the target demographic. In fact, I think it could be said the game is being made for Frasier and Gordon Lamont.

Hi CA,

Did you get the automated response? We will work through the emails once we get some time, but in the meantime, if you got the automated response you are fine.

I think that this is quite "normal". I also haven`t got any confirmation, meaning - pre-ordering number or s.th. like that.

For me right now all I see is a variant of snow tail allowing for up to 8 people and having nicer bits. So as a owner of the original there is nothing yet that would convince me to buy both of them.
