Hello,
I'm looking for a new game to add to my collection.
I was looking for a game that would takes somewhere between 15 mins and 5 hours time with a heaviness between 1.1 and 4.8 on the BGG scale.
The game needs to be good, playable with several players, and should appeal to my oncle Tobby as I'm often playing with him.
It's a plus if the games have cards in it and it should not be a wargame.
Also it is quite important that the game doesn't contain any trace of potatoe to which I'm highly alergic.

So I ran into those two games:
Time's Up! and Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization.
Both, while having some differences, seem to fit my requests.
Would you be so kind to point me to which one is the better game (remember it is very important that it appeal to my Oncle Tobby.)
Thanks!
Guillaume

Despite your helpfully narrowing the choices to those two games, I'd like to recommend SeaFall. It's not out yet, but it's exactly what you're looking for.

Way to narrow it down. You don't want a wargame otherwise I'd recommend either Risk or Case Blue.

They both have the same theme: time. But Time's Up's mechanics are more integrated with the theme. Plus, it says "Time" in the title, so it's obviously better.

I grew up with Oncle Tobby as a mentor of mine. He was sort of like a Mr Miyagi to my Daniel-san. He was a pretty hardcore gamer. Many a gaming session would start with A World At War and The Campaign For North Africa as the fillers for the evening. This confuses me why you don't want any wargame recommendations. Oncle Tobby loves wargames. Maybe you don't know him as well as you think. Maybe you never really knew him at all.

I don't like any of the games you mentioned. I recommend Through the Ages, which you should totally look at.
