Card #131

The text on the newspaper image on this card seems to contradict the game text on the card.

Newspaper image: "Embattled President Diaz yields to Yankeephobic and Sinophobic Mobs and Nationalizes U.S. Firms"

Card text: "All nationalize one of their Mexican enterprises"

So, the newspaper says U.S. firms are nationalized, but the card text says Mexican enterprises. Why the difference? Is the card text mistaken?

I think the idea is that you're nationalizing enterprises located in Mexico that are assumed to be owned by foreigners. (The Mexican government couldn't well nationalize a bank located in Arizona after all.)

Check the historical notes in the manual -- historically, there was a large amount of foreign ownership of enterprises in Mexico in the period in question, and a lot of resentment of that foreign ownership by the locals.

Good point. That makes sense. Thanks to both of you.
