Now maybe he'll negotiate with the republicans. Not Obama, this Rouhani guy, he seems a lot less extremist than Obama.

Negotiating with Republicans got him nothing but screwed over for years...why would he ever do that again?

Try to keep up, Marc. Today's conservative meme is "Obama will negotiate with terrorists but not Republicans." We should see this rise in usage for about a week or so, then it will tail off as the next thing comes up to replace it.

The idea that Obama "won't compromise" when Republicans threaten to shut down the state unless he repeals a bill that was the result of their last compromise is absolutely, categorically batshit insane.

What Obama has no communication with the Republicans in congress? By the way, agreeing something needs solving, and actually negotiating are not the same thing.

Or to put it anotehr ay

He must agree to each of our compromises until we actually get all we want. Until then we we just agree to something, then go back on our word (so yes in some respects the Republicans and Iran are nor dissimilar, and the Republicans are doing Trans job for them. Well done the GOP.

Of course, he doesn't actually have that much REAL power in Iran, but as an elected leader, does at least serve as a reflection on the will of the population.

So it is hopeful, just...let's not get too excited.

Dude, he never negotiates with Republicans. He doesn't even talk to members of his own party.

He's too busy hangin' with Kanye for that President stuff.

Why would anyone want to talk to the typical member of the House of Representatives. It is a real poop slinging contest in there on both sides of the aisle... like a room full of caged monkeys.

I'm just sayin' that the President doesn't talk to the legislative branch -- not even members of his own party. People across the political spectrum have remarked on this since he was elected.

For him to complain that Republicans won't negotiate is astoundingly hypocritical.
Never? http://www.efinancialnews.com/digest/2011-08-01/obama-agrees..., may be too strong a word.

The idea that the president should have to negotiate to avoid Republicans doing something that would be negative to all Americans is endorsing the idea that terroism is a legitimate debate tool.

Should the Republicans have to "negotiate" tax raises for the ultrawealthy for Obama to decide not to start launching nukes at Florida? The whole concept of failing to act in the interest of the entire state if you don't get unilateral concessions is fucking retarded and honestly anyone who views it as legitimate is a goddamn idiot.

Marc:

Could you cite examples were Pres. Obama negotiated with the Republicans?

For bonus VPs, cite an example where Obama effectively negotiated with the Republicans and got something (of meaning and substance) passed through Congress.

Thanks.

ACA?

Sequestration?

well if you mean things like agreeing to extend Bush's tax cuts then yes they are in good faith (in the sense that having agreed to it he acted upon the agreement. If you mean agreeing to it, and then it come time to act upon it, but instead make extra demands then no (has he done this?).

Yes, whining about a POS law that nearly no one in country knows how the Country will be affected by it. And yet, we go headlong into it. Yeah!

And whining about the media and about the President not being nice to them.

About the ACA, McCain said it best the other day:
