I'm confused on what echelon element each counter is representing.
For example, do there are four Soviet counters with a red banner that read 117th Guard. The rules state that these are a part of the Soviet 1st Guards Tank Division. Therefore does each counter represent a battalion within the 117th Guards Regiment? Likewise I have four blue banner NATO counters that all read 1st Brigade. So is each counter a separate battalion from 1st BDE, 1st Panzer Division?
Also the rules talk about recon battalions but the NATO recon counter shows that its a Brigade size element. Am I missing a counter?
This was one of the most confusing parts of the game for me. Section 1.2 in the rules talks about this, but it's not as clear as it could be. This to me seems to be the way to look at it (but I might be mistaken):
Division (e.g, 1st Guard) is made up of 3 Regiments which is made up of 4 Battalions (individual counters)
Division is made up of 3 Brigades, which is made up of 4 Battalions ( individual counters)
