Boardgames are a niche hobby.

Some sectors, such as historical wargaming, have an ageing public.
What about Descent 2 ?
Are we mostly teenagers, middle aged people or silverbacks (as I confess I am, as I will be turning 50 this year...) ?

Answer for yourself and about the number of people of a given age that you know, who do play too.

Poll
How old are you and your Descent 2 gaming partners ?
  under 10 11-15 16-20 21-30 31-40 41-50 51+
I am
I know 1 player who is
I know 2 players who are
I know 3 players who are
I know 4+ players who are

It's pretty hard to analyze. It seems like, at this point, most players are between 21 and 30, and great deal is also on 31-40. Average might be 27 years, so that's my age.

I'm surprised that only one teenager voted(though he might have been 20), but we have one person under 10 on the board But it seems we know few teenagers who play, but not too many. Strange, when I was that age I knew tons of teenagers who played stuff like that.

Maybe Descent is a bit too expensive for them? Or maybe they are just playing tabletop RPGs?

Seems that all I ever see teenagers here in the States play anymore is Magic the Gathering and Pokemon. I hope that is a generalization on my part, and we are not a dying breed...

MtG and pokemon are more fitting to be played in public. Those don't weight too much, players are willing to play many different people with many different decks, as that's the only way to have fun with those games.

On the other hand for big board games like Descent, which not only weight a lot, but also are hard to carry AND are fun when no one interferes I don't see place more fitting than table at home*.

* after making sure that cats, children or wife won't be interrupting.

21-40 seems to be the majority this far (80 voters), with some spilling over for people over 40.

From your interactions on this forum, I figured you to be much younger than that.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
I reckon that I can sometimes interact as an old dumba$$ - but dumba$$ity is not linked to one's age, and I am the Swiss Moron after all.

Glad to know that i'm not the only one on the brink of 50 to appreciate boardgames!

This hobby in my country is moving slowly, Italian boardgamers are like an alien race goo We are few but growing ...slowly!

Past 170 voters and the global repartition remains the same.
