The following is a standardized report for tactical simulation 001-A occuring stardate 201328.9
Federation - IRW Valdore/ U.S.S. Enterprise-D
notes: mixed faction, 2 fatty build. Valdore w/ Picard, Enterprise-D w/ Khan +McCoy + Montgomery Scott.
Romulan - IRW Valdore/ IRW Khazara
notes: pure faction, 2 fatty build
Klingon – MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
notes: pure faction, 2 ship build, limited resource build (84 points total)
Federation - U.S.S. Enterprise-D/ U.S.S. Reliant/ Constitution Class
notes: pure faction. Fatty Enterprise w/ Pike, medium Reliant w Picard, support Constitution w/ Terell
Klingon (a) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
notes: pure faction. Standard loadouts
Klingon (b) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
notes: pure faction. Standard loadouts
Dominion – Kraxon/ Gor Portas/ Galor Class
notes: pure faction. Antiproton scans. Gor Protas w/ Gul Danar + Breen Aide
Dominion – Kraxon/ Breen Cruiser/ U.S.S. Reliant
notes: heavy mixed faction. Kraxon w/ Toreth, Breen Cruiser w/ Picard + Energy Dissipator, U.S.S. Reliant w/ Khan
WINNER: Federation - U.S.S. Enterprise-D/ U.S.S. Reliant/ Constitution Class -VS- Federation - IRW Valdore/ U.S.S. Enterprise-D
notes: Valdore and Enterprise-D #2 focus fire Enterprise-D #1 with Pike down in 1 round. Enterprise-D #2 taken down the same round by Reliant's Photon Torpedoes and Constitution Class. Valdore's Cloak ineffective as it is slowly worked down 1 hull point at a time.
WINNER: Dominion – Kraxon/ Breen Cruiser/ U.S.S. Reliant -VS- Romulan - IRW Valdore/ IRW Khazara
notes: Khazara and Valdore got seperated to opposite ends of the map. Dominion force picked off Khazara then Valdore.
WINNER: Klingon (a) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth -VS- Klingon – MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
Notes: Klingon (a) shows great disregard for Space station, destroys it immediately.
WINNER: Klingon (b) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth -VS- Dominion – Kraxon/ Gor Portas/ Galor Class
notes: Klingons Come About get behind Galor Class vessels. Picked off one at a time.
WINNER: Federation - IRW Valdore/ U.S.S. Enterprise-D -VS- Romulan - IRW Valdore/ IRW Khazara
notes: Valdore #2 and Khazara approach under cloak. Valdore #1 w/ Picard drops 1 crewman on Station for control after taking minor damage from the station. Khan utilizes maximum Alpha Strike with Battlestations and Montgomery Scott (via McCoy) for 7 dice attack vs Valdore #2. Romulan vessels opt to retain cloak and hope for better shot. Antimatter mines + Montgomery Scott destroys Valdore #2 and damages Khazara. Federation fleet suffers no casualties and ends with station control.
WINNER: Klingon – MahtH'A/ Gr'oth -VS- Dominion – Kraxon/ Gor Portas/ Galor Class
notes: an incorrect maneuver by the helmsman of the Kraxon it into the wormhole. Klingons capitalize and rout the remaining enemy fleet.
WINNER: Klingon (a) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth -VS- Federation - U.S.S. Enterprise-D/ U.S.S. Reliant/ Constitution Class
notes: once again, Klingon (a) shows great disregard for the abandoned station and destroys it immediately. Forces then slug it out in the minefield, both forces suffering heavy damage. The battle is left unresolved with the Reliant surviving on the Federation side, and a severely damaged Negh'var and MahtH'A surviving on the Klingon (a) side.
WINNER: Dominion – Kraxon/ Breen Cruiser/ U.S.S. Reliant -VS- Klingon (b) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
notes: Klingon B end up maneuvering through several minefileds on the way to the abandoned station, drops off a singular crewman there. Station is soon after destroyed by Dominion fleet. Picard scores a dissipator hit on the Negh'var through its cloak, following it up with lethal damage that round, and the dominon fleet proceeds to clean up the Klingon incursion with extreme prejudice.
2 cadets called away on emergency mission. Remaining data is as follows:
WINNER: Federation - IRW Valdore/ U.S.S. Enterprise-D -VS- Klingon (b) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
notes: Klingon (b) maneuvers cost some Klingon (b) actions. Valdore deposits one crewman on station again. Initial long range engagment lightly damages Enterprise-D shields. Following round "alpha" strike by Picard using engage to get in range 1 of Gr'oth with Battlestations active deals 5 damage, destroying it. Khan with target lock from previous round uses Battlestations - McCoy- Montgomery Scott combination to attack with 7 dice. Tactical Officer is used to reroll all [hit] and blank dice on first roll, ending second reroll with 4 hits, 2 battlestations (turned to crit), and 1 crit. Defending (cloaked) Negh'var rolls 1 evade and is destroyed. Last Klingon ship w/ Martok destroyed with impunity. Very short simulation.
WINNER: Dominion – Kraxon/ Breen Cruiser/ U.S.S. Reliant -VS- Klingon (1) - Negh'var/ MahtH'A/ Gr'oth
notes: Klingon (a) heads towards staion, intercepted by Dominion fleet. Short, bloody battle leaves the Klingon fleet annihalated. Dominion ships suffer no casualties.
WINNER: Federation - U.S.S. Enterprise-D/ U.S.S. Reliant/ Constitution Class -VS- Dominion – Kraxon/ Gor Portas/ Galor Class
notes: battlefield set up to leave wide avenue of attack between forces. Head-on clash lasts several rounds before the ships are forced to pull back. Dominion Kraxon and Gor Portas destroyed. All Federation ships left severely damaged.
Victory is life! Spoils of war go to:
Dominion – Kraxon/ Breen Cruiser/ U.S.S. Reliant (3-0 first place)
Federation - IRW Valdore/ U.S.S. Enterprise-D (2-1 second place (265 fleet points))
Dominion – Kraxon/ Gor Portas/ Galor Class (0-3 Red Shirt Award (funnest opponent to play against))
Cloak is heavily luck-based. One bad roll will put a cloak shipped in easy one-hit-kill range if exploited by a prepared "fatty" vessel or one that focuses on dealing critical damage.
Engage - espeically with Picard and a vessel with green 2-bank maneuvers - can cover alot of distance very quickly, easily coming into range 1 with a target lock that can deal heavy damage from seemingly nowhere.
Antimatter mines are strong against cloak since the defender rolls no defense dice, and the mines do not require target lock to use. They cannot be combined with Battlestations or Target Lock, but they CAN be combined with Scotty to deal a good amount of damage to 1 vessel. Most enemies also like to keep a close formation, so it is not difficult to catch a secondary ship in the field as well.
In the end, a heavily mixed fleet build took first place, and an offense-oriented 2 fatty ship build managed to take second (surprisingly though, these builds never faced each other). However, luck and maneuvering ability is always a factor as even an 84 point fleet build managed to score a victory over a -mathematically- superior opponent.
Is there a lesson to be learned here cadets? Perhaps. Another training simulation will take place tomorrow, and perhaps this new data will provide some interesting results as well!
(On a personal note, I was running the Valdore/Picard + Enterprise-D/Khan commbination, a build put together at literally the last minute when we had numerous Dominion players but not many Federation or Romulan. I felt obligated to even the scales a bit, and it was also literally the first time I flew either of these two ships. Somehow I managed to do pretty well and get a Krayton in the process!
Excellent report! Very detailed. Thank you.
Great report Will. We had a lot of fun that day. However, you neglected to mention that all participants came to a consensus that Pike is one handsome fellow.
I enjoyed running the Enterprise D, Reliant, and generic Constitution, but I topped out with 100 points, not leaving enough to equip my red Star Trek socks. I only managed to fire the AM mines at the very end of the last round. As you note, I was able to hit two ships. One challenge was avoiding mines with Enterprise D.
Also, one of the Klingon builds had Donatra as a captain. Is that still considered pure?
There was one with donatra wasnt there? Was that D or the brother guy that called you old it was tough trying to keep track of everyones builds and matches in my head. If youd like to add anything more i may have forgotten feel free to!
