After loosing exactly one Month of time due RealLifeCrap, I decided in completely do SpaceOpera from scratch, within 3 Days...
Maybe next year, I can participate without such bad luck.

Looking around, I got plenty of Inspiration by other Projects going on:
Journey to the Underworld, Barbarian Vince, Tenth Dragon, Archipelago, Robinson Crusoe, Twilight Imperium, Eclipse, a.m.m.

What I am looking for?
A Fun and fast Cardgame about a Journey/Exploration/Questing in a nice little GenreWorld. OMG, I am so creative *Ironic Mode*
It seems these kind of Games are flooding in lately, anyway, I gonna try too.

Here is my rough Plan:

3 playable Characterclass, The Hunter, The Chronist, The Seeker
3 Steamships. Player Mats or Cards
12 Crewcards
3 Track-Cards
12 Location Cards
24 Journey Cards

I try to get this into a 54 Cards Standard Size.
The Journey Cards contain: Encounters(by diceroll), Weather Information, Items, Quests.

4:19 left, and I finished Research and reading books, lol. I should start the cards.

3:24 Created Combat, Maneuver and Encounter Level Mechanic.

3:07 Created Hull/Hitpoints, Critical damage/ Hullbreak Rules

3:06 Sketched all 6 Track Cards, start painting them now.

1:46 I think I ma too tired and give up.... But I will finish the game while weekend. That doesnt matter, only too bad the contest ends within a weekday :/

Rules of Steam Opera:


The Darkness is rising. Nobody could forsee the end of the Long Autum would finaly come upon us. To soft had we grown, from the peace of an era without war. But the shadows were never gone, lingering just outside our watch. We are no longer the speartip of the Realms, only tales and renmants of our past glory are left. My heart is broken, since I saw the Towers of Metropia fall, and so I may await my end, guarding this sacred ground. But you, unbound by our failure, you may find your destiny within this struggle.
Now, take the Ship and my Sigyl and go! Let an old man rest and die the way he choosed.

Components: 54 Cards
3 Aether-Ship Cards
3 Capatin Cards
6 Crewmember Cards
12 Journey Cards
12 Location Cards
6 Trackcharts
12 Treasure



Rules:

In the setup of Steam Opera you first choose a ship, a captain and two crewmembers, or keep drawing the starting elements randomly.

Put the Opera counter on the first empty slot of the Trackcard and do the same on the Hulltracker, depending on your HUll size of your ship, you may get 10 HP equal to Hull level. Also put the counter on 15 Coins on the Money tracker. The Political Card is still empty at the beginning of the new session.

The Stones are for Upgrates/Fuel/Sell with a Basic Value and a special trait if used in the right situation. (the Heliosmagma can be usedup to fuel the Ship in an emergency, or included to produce a Secret weapon or be a Lucky charm in a Dungeon Quest.

The Players may choose to investigate ruins/caves or flight through or looking for ressources in a Location Card.

Despite the low interest in my Designs around here, I am still playtesting this game and try to forge something nice with it. Nobody so far commented the Art, and I dont know if I should stick to the found material or draw them from scratch. Just thought original Art from 18th Century would look good in this game, but I may be wrong...

No, its in Public Domain, the Books are over 100 Years old and the Creators died that long ago too. At least thats what I understand of Public domain.
