I know they aren't great but a pretty good filler the card based versions of the mass market games. That's about all you can do for under the 10 mark. The monopoly and sorry ones play quick (and sorry can be scaled for length). Best I have recommendation wise unless you find a lucky clearance item.

All of these are $10 and many of them have a boardgame feel even though they are card games

Adlung-Spiel Games - The better ones

I know a game for 10 bucks. Here are the rules... first, you put the 10 bucks in your piggy bank. Then, you wait until you get another 10 bucks, and you combine the 2, then buy a good game for 20 bucks. If you find this is still lacking, you can get the "wait for yet another 10 bucks" expansion, and then go buy a really good game for 30 bucks.

I think The Bottle Imp, Masquerade, Jericho, Love Letter, and Hanabi are all around $10. Oh, and We Didn't Playtest This At All, too. Win, Lose, or Banana is only $1!

Indian Chief - $0 if you already have a deck of playing cards. It's a bit like Yahtzee with cards (but better than Yahtzee).

Adlung-Spiele produce good and cheap games. I have played and enjoyed Palastgeflüster and The Castle of the Devil and quite fancy Meuterer.

Love this game! best $10 I ever spend. 2-player game is less interesting though.
