We finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new iMac to replace the old dinosaur of a compy that my wife has now. She will actually be able to do graphic design work at home on this one if she needs to, which is something she has never been able to do before.

As far as virus protection goes, there was a time when I wouldn't worry about Macs; they simply never got viruses. But I guess those days are over. My wife's boss has a Mac, and he recently got several viruses on his machine. The computer guys freaked out and have now installed antivirus software on all the Macs at her office.

So, I am looking for options -- preferably free ones. They are using Symantec for the Macs at her office, but I'm sure that's a pretty penny. From a quick search, I found that Avast does Macs, so that might be good. Any other suggestions?

Avast is great on my PC. I can't speak to how well it works on Macs, but I've had no problems with it.

I use Avast! on my home PC as well. Don't know how well it does on the Mac, but it's done the job for me.

I'd go with Clam for the GPL (and it's major linux spread) although I guess the webbstuff is missing.

To be fair, it doesn't have a particularly descriptive subject name. I would have completely missed it too.
