So hopefully my copy of the game will arrive sometime in a week or so, just enough time to read a book on a subject I know almost nothing about.

So, any book recommendations for a crash course in the history of the Dine?

In the errata, Joel lists a bibliography. Probably a good place to start.

I found Blood & Thunder (which is in the bibliography) by Hampton Sides enthralling. While the primary focus is Kit Carson (who was nothing but a name to me before this), it also does a good job of introducing the history of the southwest and the native Americans who lived there.

I haven't read Blood & Thunder, but I have read Hellhound on His Trail and Ghost Soldiers. Sides is one helluva a writer.

Blood & Thunder is on Audible, which is a plus, but I'm really looking for a more comprehensive history to begin with.

I went with 'The Book of the Navajo' by Raymond Friday Locke.
