I don't know much about economic things, but this question come from a player in my first play:
why when a company is defunct, people receive money from that company?
I think the fact that in reality, when a bankrupt company everyone that buying shares will lose money, right?

No. Companies don't go bankrupt in this game. Larger chains buy smaller chains, which means they pay the stockholders in those smaller chains for the stock that they own.
