Guys

Was anyone of you a backer of Reaper Bones Kickstarter 1?

I`m wondering what shipping/vat/customs should I expect now as its "open" right now.

BTW, yes, there is Bones 2 right now started with 6000 backers already

INSANE!

Nope, I was a backer of CG's Napoleon: The Waterloo Campaign, 1815 (4th ed.) on Kickstarter. Paid $45 for the game, $25 for shipping by credit card.
VAT, customs etc, (cash at front door) was an additional €23.
Just to give you an idea.

If you "buy" things on Kickstarter there should not be any additional fees or VAT.

Because you do not actually buy anything. You back a project by giving money to the owner of the project. He than gives you a reward. For all intends and purposes this should be treated as a gift.

In practise I've never had any additional fees charged to me for any kickstarter I backed. These have been 5 in total and included a 1 m3 box of about 10 kg.

If you do get charged you should object and you will get your money back.

If that was true, I would start a warehouse. You could pick a basket full of free gifts I stored there. When you leave, you can gift me an amount I name.

I don't think there a judge in the NL who wouldn't call this a supermarket.

Same for Kickstarter. If I backed the project for $15, I get a T-shirt. If I back it for $45, I get a game. That's called a purchase in my book.

I think you're just one lucky sunnuva...

I don't think I can appeal now anyway, since I don't believe I have the necessary paperwork anymore. But where would you do so? Belastingdienst?

And out of sheer curiosity, what was on the 1m3 box? meeple

Kickstarter is quite clear on the fact they are not a store and that your rewards are not purchases. Read their policy.

The paperwork you get with the shipment has the details of how to object. Try it you might be surprised.

The big box held a quadruple line for life for D-Day Dice.

ok, Kickstarter is a platform to give money. but you give money for a box of goodies, so you purchase it.

its a different thing KS and the product that you are, de facto, buying.
I believe vat and customs SHOULD be included here, as usual.

so - anyone actually having backed the project last time? I`m asking for a specific thing.

Richard, if that is true what you are saying can you back this for me please and I will just send you 100+shipping. You will pay vat/customs if there will be some ok? devil

If you can guarantee that Reaper will mark the shipment as reward or gift I will most certainly offer you just that. But looking at the kickstarter page they don't do that. So the fact you have to pay VAT is down to Reaper miniatures.

I did not pay any VAT for Alien Frontiers, Alien Frontiers Factions, D-Day Dice, The Great Heartland Hauling Co, 1775 Rebellion, 1812 The Invasion of Canada, Dungeon Roll. Are you telling me that companies like Academy Games and Clever Mojo Games are breaking the law by labeling the shipments as gifts? I will grant you that this is maybe exploiting a loophole in the law. But it certainly is not illegal and it saves me a lot of money.

The reaper box will be marked at value, without added shipping cost.
It will not be marked as a gift, which is illegal.
The first reaper ks vampire box had about 27 euros import tariffs and tax.

great. good to know.
vampire box was 100 usd

core set here is 100 usd as well, expansion for 50 usd seems nice.
I expect to close that deal with 150EUR-ish then

Don't forget that Reaper will charge you additional shipping costs (about 40 euros, if the package does not weigh more than 5 kgs)
Like mentioned, this shipping cost will not be added to the value amount to be declared at customs.

I think its a bad deal now anyway and will probably drop it to give more to Mantic Mars Attacks. If nothing is resolved with the shipping and number of miniatures will not be A LOT above 200 = pass

there's a shipping calculator now.

Example: I'm in for the core, the expansion and 5 $10,- addons = $200.
Shipping is $47,77.
Taxes will be 21% over $200, = $42,- plus the handling rate of €13,-.

If you have to pay taxes it will also be paid over shipping costs.

I think I might try to object to the extra costs this time, if they charge me. They did with Bones 1, but that was 29,50, so not too bad.
That was the only KS I had to pay extra for though. And I knew it up front.
The others I backed are all EU friendly, shipped from Germany.

I'm up for trading some Bones (or selling). I have some left from Bones 1 (double vampire), and I might swap some from Bones 2 as well.
